Looks like Wargames Factory has almost finished their plastic Samurai set.

These should appeal to all the Japanophiles amongst you and be a lot cheaper than the Perry's range.

Not bad!

It occurs to me that a feudal Japanese army would work pretty well with the Empire list for Fantasy in a lot of ways.

(Bad Dave! No new stuff!)

I think Pikey intended to do something similar using the Perry's range way back when.

They're still waiting for the moulds to be made, so it may be a couple of months more. Hopefully they do some Ashigaru (regular infantry) in plastic as well. If they do, I may have to rethink my budget for the end of the year. :D

Ok, so we know that the Perrys do Metal Samurai and that WGF is working on plastics, but who are they going to fight? Japanese history is full of Samurai on Samurai action (er....maybe I could have phrased that better  ), but Japan also fought wars with some of their neighbors as well. In the 13th Century they fought off a Mongol invasion and in the late 16th century they fought the Koreans and the Ming Dynasty after landing forces in Korea with the goal of marching into China.

The Perry's do a nice, but small range of Koreans.
The Assault Group do a range of Mongols and Song Dynasty (12th/13th century) Chinese.
Curteys Miniatures also do a Song (Sung) Dynasty range which is a little cheaper than TAG's.
Scheltrum Miniatures do a small range of Ming Dynasty (16th century) Chinese.

Not really 'historical' but some nice characterful figures. - http://fullmetalplanet.biz/shop/okko/okko.html
