Official Joshin March Sign-Up - A Call to Arms!

Post by kojibear » Fri Mar 09, 2012 8:15 am

Thought I would start the thread this month.

Would any brave and fluff minded souls be interested in a 3000 point a side Fantasy team game :?:

What you say is 'fluff-minded'? Tis a good question! Well, a game that is full of character and characters, naturally.

- Characters should be named, and each side must use it's full % of character points!
- All units must have unit champions where possible.
- Challenges should be made! No cowardice around here thanks very much!
- The game should be objective/story driven, not kill points.

*Note - a character who falls in battle need not die per say, but rather can suffer a terrible wound that leaves him/her scarred physically and emotionally - i.e. the character now has an irrational fear or hatred for anyone with a beard!

If this sounds like you, then answer the Call To Arms!!!

(feel free to add your own ideas for the game)

Let's make this the 'official' March Joshin sign-up thread.

@Koji: Humblest apologies but I am all about 40K this time around. I'll be more than happy to play 3K of WFB down in Toyohashi sometime though (Check your PMs)

@The rest of you scurvy dogs!: Who else wants to get some more practice in at 40K? I'm happy playing 750 -1750pts. Any takers?

I'll be looking to play Warhammer! And I'll be up for a team game. :!:

I also agree with the guidelines:

-I'm not sure about using all the points, but lots of named characters are colorful for the purposes of the game. Also I'm not sure unit champions are needed, but I would argue it is very colorful to have a 'hero model'- champion or hero/lord choice- to make every unit interesting in combat.
- Yes! Challenges should be given and matched with steely courage. If you want shirk and shrink from the heroic call at least make your character a coward in the storyline.
- And yes! I think changing some of the perimeters of the missions would be be good. Maybe having 1-3 objectives in the middle of the board to come out and fight for would be good to keep people from boxing and camping on their side, shooting up at opponent or running away from a fight in order to protect the last models in a unit from lost VPs. A colorful backdrop would be very good to encourage all the above.

* Yes! or they develop a fear of giant feathered things with claws that pick you up and drop you on your head! :D -that's kind of rational actually. :D - so is fearing a bearded fellow!

I would be up for 40K! Any size up to 1500 points would be ok for me. I should be ok for either the morning or the afternoon this month.

@Underdweller: OK. l Shall we do 40K in the morning. Hopefully I do better against your Tau than I did against your Cutlass Dwarves. How many points would you like to do? 1500?

1500 it is! It'll be good to get some practice in with my Tau before the Tournament.

Not sure if I can make it. If I do, it will just be in the afternoon.
