Black Powder III: Sunday 11th of December

Post by job » Mon May 30, 2016 1:22 pm

"Here's forty shillings on the drum, for who volunteers to come..."

Date
There will be battle offered on Sunday 11th of December to all who are ready to fight in honorable fashion.

Rules
The rule set will be Black Powder written by R. Priestly and published by Warlord Games. The setting will the be the Napoleonic era. The models will be 28mm and forces will be organized in the fashion of the period.

I would like to use some of the suggested rules from AT1 and AT2, primarily about infantry squares and the use of assault columns in close combat. If you are unaware of them, I'll try to make those rules available to you so you won't miss a beat in the game.

Location
The rendezvous is at NTK Hall near Kanayama station. We will be in the 第二会議室 under the name "Napoleonic クラブ".

Time
Doors open at 9am. The first turn is set to begin after 10:00. I would like to request you to come before 10 to give an opportunity for players to set up and share in some pre-battle banter and strategizing. The gaming period will wrap up about ... whenever we are ready to break camp. The room is ours until 9pm.

Fee
The event is free.

Armies/Commands
Please bring your personal commands of Napoleonic miniatures. If you don't have an army, I have several French brigades needing commanders. If you want to assemble your own force, but need some help with preparing enough miniatures, I might be able to help, so please contact me. There's no cap on the collection, but try to organize the forces along similar historical lines.

Order of Battle
I'll ask everyone to post an Order of Battle later. This is for creating alliances and teams in addition to the fun of seeing lots of named units and commanders.

What to bring
In addition, it would be nice to bring along your handy tape measure, in inches preferably, and some of your most trustworthy dice. Libations are also another worthy piece of kit. Making plastic war is a thirsty business. (Although no openly labeled alcoholic beverages inside the room.) Also help with terrain would be nice. I'll have one battle mat, hills, roads and fields, but anything along similar lines would be helpful. Depending on the number of players and forces, the game will need 2-3 table mats.

There will be more details as we get closer to the date.

Oh, and I'm not actually offering forty shillings. It's just a song.

I hope to see you all there!

Huzzah! Excellent news.

I have been mustering my British for a little while now and they are coming along nicely. In another six months they will definitely be ship-shape and Bristol fashion.

Look forward to it!

@Prim: Pedant! I'm tempted to sail up the river in a ship of the line just for that!

Sounds bloody brilliant. Any chance of a live stream of the game on you tube?
Forget about yesterday, don't worry about tomorrow because all that matters is today.

@ Ashmie: Unlikely, mate. Anyway, it would be aired at a time I'm pretty sure is your bed time, no? :)

I will say I was hoping your Prussians would have graced the table. They'll be missed, but carry on with the liberation of Germany from the ogre with a local gaming club. If have any images of the action, please post pics!
