Zoats again, and some Tyranids

Post by AndrewGPaul » Tue Jan 03, 2012 9:16 pm

I finally finished off all the Zoats. First up, the fantasy ones:

and a smaller Zoat.

I figured that the three of them could be a family - an adult male warrior, an adult female wizard and an adolescent. The adolescent's mace is all shiny and new - it'll age along with him until it ends up like the adult's axe.

Secondly, the 40K Zoats.

Trooper Slaarsh with a bolter.

Trooper Sheear with a multi-melta (or a missile launcher - the catalogue couldn't make its mind up).
Image

officer Gharg with power fist, flamer and bolt pistol.

Loorg the hero with two bolters.

I wanted them to look like the Tyranids had taken primitive Zoat warriors and given them organic 'equipment' (putting on those facemasks must be like sticking an octopus on your face - not for the squeamish! :) ). The colours match those I used on the Tyranids in the next post.

And finally the Tyranid warrior and the hunter-slayer and screamer-killer 'servants':

I never realised, before painting this model, that the screamer-killer miniature had more teeth than the Osmond family:

Excellent stuff. Great color choice. The screamer looks much better than I remember. The one I saw in WD many moons ago was an uber bright red.

Nicely done sir.

ooh, very nice :) I agree with Spev - the screamer killer looks way better that way. I always liked that mini :) The zoats are nice, too. What colour is that on the young fantasy zoat? I dont recognise it. It works well, whatever it is :)

+1 to the comments above. The old school nids in less old school colours look aces. The zoats look nice as well. Nice touch with the nid-i-fying of the zoats. :D

Dave, the young Zoat is a basecoat of Vallejo Model Color 70886 Green Grey, with a Thraka Green wash, then highlighted with the base colour and then VMC Silvergrey.
