with regards to the comments a few of you made regarding contrast - I think it may be the light settings, maybe. Actually, the mini is really dark overall, but looks quite light in the pictures. The golds in particular all go from black to whiter than mithril silver. I'm particularly baffled by the blue tinges all over the first two pics, as there is no blue in the mini at all, and there wasnt any big blue things for light to be reflecting off of when I took the pics. I think a big part of the problem is that the metallics were intended to catch the light and go "ping!", which they do. Unfortunately the charadon granite has also turned a wee bit satin, which means that it also goes "ping!" in the light, so everything looks a bit flat. When I come to do the deathjack, I'll strive to have greater contrast in colours. The thing is...where? I'll post a more detailed version of this question elsewhere, later...
Some folks also said they dont like the green. To clarify the purpose of the green, I should mention that it's pretty necessary for cryx warjacks to have that shade of green on their engines - it's called necrotite green, and while you can jig about with carapace colours (as long as theyre kinda dingy and dark) the green is pretty much Cryx's principal identifying feature. It'd be like painting orks blue. Not impossible by any means, but if one wants to keep things simple, one paints orks green. likewise with necrotite. My cryx are deliberately not a display/fancy army. I hope to get them all painted up to a respectable gaming standard, and actually play some fully painted games with them before I grow old and die, so I'm trying to avoid time consuming techniques like OSL and suchlike (except on the deathjack. i have an idea for him that sadly required OSL.) So, the necrotite bits got the exact same treatment that PP give them - paint em white, wash with a few layers of ink. The alternative is OSL, and I don't have time for that. I appreciate the feedback, though. Always good to know what people think.
I'll be bringing the mini along to Ashmie's event on the 17th, so folks can feel free to have a gander at it irl if they fancy. Kbear/Dlord, this chap will be available for inclusion in yr practice army, so by all means make use of him to lay the smack down on the enemies of the dragonfather

ps - @kbear - I have not forgotten elf lion lady. No sir. I'm actually waiting for a shipment of more shades of tawny than any man really needs, as well as some skin tones. I've been reasearching lions, and theyre complicated buggers, they really are. I also discovered that I don't actually have much in the way of healthy skin coloured paint. Comes of painting nothing but nurgle (pale and sick), dark eldar (pale and interesting), and eldar (pale and...well... Pale) for the past 20 years or so. I figured your lion rider would have a bit o fire in her veins, so I ordered a somewhat healthier range of skin tones. Should be useful for other stuff, too, I'd imagine. Malifaux figs and whatnot. Anyway, once the paint gets here, I'll get started on her
