Been back on the brush recently and finished a German truck, a Hanomag - a bunch of various Russians and made a promise to myself to not open anything else until I've completed all of the current things on the go. Difficult, but so far successful.

My copy of BA2 arrived last weekend, along with an order from Warlord - part of which was accidentally replaced at the warehouse with a box of Panzergrenadiers. Not complaining though, Warlord rectified the order without question and let me keep the AWOL Jerries - they'll certainly get put to good use!

Just saw on bookdepository.com Campaign books for Battle of the Bulge, Operation Sea Lion and Papua New Guinea with pics of the covers and release dates spread throughout 2017. Looks like I'm gonna have to get started on an ANZAC army now...

I don't really mind either way, and I can't imagine anyone around here making a big deal out of it but it just seemed like something that's open to abuse by 'those' kind of players.
Does seem like a bit of a nerf for heavier artillery firing against small teams and other artillery though. A Med. Howitzer used to get 2D6 hits (an average of 7) on anything it hit, which in all probability will wipe it out. Now against such targets it gets 3 hits max, right? One for each crewman? Those aren't such good odds. Perhaps it was a deliberate move on WL's part to reduce number of big guns in the game. I mean, an army would be in big trouble if enemy infantry managed to get close to their medium and heavy artillery positions, whereas lighter pieces like the 25lber and the Zis-3 were often right in the thick of it.
Oh well, as I said doesn't bother me that much. Let's see what the consensus is after the 'community' plays around with V2 for a while. I won't be changing any of my army builds regardless.

Tried out a rather nice Matt spray varnish from Winsdor and Newton. Not bad, nice and shiny but not too much.
Played No Man's Sky, made a video of a playthorugh and spent an hour or two painting these guys while listening to episode 3 pf Lord of the Rings. Business as usual on the hobby front really, it's good to be back at it.
My bench is now empty for the first time in years. A good feeling. Lots of minis still to paint but nothing sitting there half done. :)
Forget about yesterday, don't worry about tomorrow because all that matters is today.

Always good to see painted minis :) Btw, how is No Man's Sky. It kinda looks interesting but I've read mixed reviews (some love it to bits, others say it lacks depth.) What say you, Ser Laycock?

That's my understanding, although bear in mind they'll probably all be 2+ rolls with the +pen bonus...!

Got all the 15mm army mans I currently have painted up - some reinforcements should arrive from Peter Pig in a week or so, and the Americans will be done.

I gotta say, even just basing dudes up I'm kind of falling in love with the scale for individually-based platoon-sized forces. Looks good, stores up in a small space, and gives a very playable 12" = 40 yards ground scale that's at the same scale as the actual dudes. ('Course, my irrational love of Scales that are Slightly Smaller than Most People are Into is well-known, heh.) I'm already thinking of some hacks to Chain of Command to play in a science-fictiony way with some of the ranges from Khurasan or Critical Mass.

Ive taken quite a shine to Weird World War as a setting, so today I tested out a paint scheme for my Soviet heavy infantry.

Rather than guys in heavy armour, I've gone with guys in mini walkers.

These are a bit bigger than the official miniatures, but they are too small to be light walkers.

Nice walker.
I spent several hours today working on the Overlord boards. The construction work is nearing completion, lots of painting still to do. On the painting side of things, my British contingent is coming along nicely with most of the work on them done. Lots more things waiting in the queue though.
