@Jye, the logic of souping into nurgle daemons for a whole bunch of cheap, high-wound, invulnerable-save, disgustingly resilient, infiltrating nurglings to camp on objectives is hard to argue with. Probably well worth the 2 CP a second detachment will cost me, for game sizes where I can do so.
Do it. If you don't make hay when the sun shines, you'll regret it after the Codexes turn and Tau or something is oppressing us

So I just finished my first Necron warrior, he came out a lot more rusted and growdy then I intended but I guess that makes him a rust monster. I feel I already a bunch of mistakes lol. Anyways go easy please :? *edit the picture is gigantic sorry* Image

Today I finished up 3 Elves. My apologies to Konrad, I hope the following doesn't trigger your pointy-ear allergy.

The models are old figures from Grenadier circa 1990. I haven't had them for quite that long, maybe around 20 years give or take.

@Mogus - That's a nice start.

First of all, digital photography is NOT your friend. You have to be very good to not be able to find issues with close up photos. :D For image hosting and posting, I recommend using a website called Imgur.com. It's free and it stores the pictures off site, so it is less load on our server. It's also not a bad idea to crop the photo. If you're using Windows, this can be done quickly and easily in MS Paint.

I'll guess that you are using Contrast paints for the body of the Necron. They are fantastic at bringing out detail, but they tend to pool a little on flat areas like the armour on the arms and legs. I'm sure one of our more gifted painters will be along with some advice on how to deal with that at some stage.

In the meantime, keep up the good work.

Thanks Primarch
I was using the warhammer youtube channel as a guide but when I apply the shade/wash I am unsure how to get the effect they got. I painted a 2nd model today with much less shade and I am still unsure if it is what I'm after or not.

One option is to go back over some areas with the base colour again.
My usual technique (for example, the elves just below your Necron), is simply:
Apply base colours
Add a wash
Highlight raised/flat areas in the base colour again.

There are, of course, a lot of advanced styles you can use, but those three steps should be sufficient to get a reasonable looking army.

Yeah, I think that for Necrons especially, a drybrush of your base metallic color over that wash will wrap it up pretty nicely - it'll bring out the detail and also probably cover up some of the unevenness with the shade layer.

Getting in early so we can do some planning, but we should definitely have an event of some kind when we reach 1,000 pages of "What did you do today."

Painted model exchange?

Achooo. And it's not really an allergy. It's pure racism. But I save it for totally imaginary people, like elves and the French. :D
