Burning Up the Backlog.

ok, change of plan. No vamps, as I can see myself taking forever to prep them. No, instead, I'm doing an ogre and some minions. I did technically paint a minion already, but he's very small and therefor doesnt count, right?

Anyway, progress on Hrothgorn. I'm going for basic colours just now, with some placement of shadows and highlights to be refined later.





Just the basecoat and shadow placement on the skin so far, plus a bit of highlighting on his shoulder and arm, but it's a start.

@mij: Nice. I really like the model. That crossbow looks especially up market. Can't wait to see it done. and the vampires. I like vampires. No Zenithal this time though?

The gloss effect is deliberate, a 50:50 mix of Vallejo Gloss Medium and GW Mephiston Red.

@jus - no, no zenithal this time. I'm trying to be a bit more f-smoothness on this one, as i tend to be a bit hung up on making things all blendy and whatnot (and get frustrated when it inevitably doesnt turn out right). So this chap is going to be wild and wooly.

@prim - those marines are looking nice. Using gloss (or gloss adjacent) is a great way of creating textural contrast in a mini. Looks good

Today's progress: more skin. Face is about done, although I kinda want more colours in there. Might do some more purplish tones. I dunno.

This evening I finished up most of the paint on my Thousand Sons. I need to clean up some of the metallic areas, do the bases and add decals, but the end is in sight.

With the Thousand Sons kind of done for now, (I'm planning on doing all the bases and decals at the same time) I have done some more work on my World Eater command squad.

Just a little cleanup to do and then these guys can join the Thousand Sons in the 'to be based and given decals' pile.
