I think the job is a nice one, it really looks like that anime character that you posted a pic of, maybe a little bit more tanned but otherwise, cool!

huzzah! This is my first brush-painted mini in...oooh, ages. It's done to tabletop level, so the blends are rough as a badger's arse, but when seen from about 2 feet away, it looks ok. (in the photo, the purple looks better than irl, whereas the loincloth looks worse than irl. Go figure...)

Anyway, what do you think: My first incubi - the klaivex (somewhat converted, btw.) He turned out a lot more colourful than I had intended, but since all the colours match the rest of my army, I reckon he'll do. Took 3 days, btw, which is lickety-split fast for me :D

*edit* having spent 2 posts wittering on at Prim as to how to take good pictures, I am now having trouble myself getting the contrast right. That's what comes of trying to take a picture of a black mini with a white face. It upsets the camera no end...

*edit again* this model needs a coat of dullcote. His knees and the pointy bits above em are really matte black. not glossy, not metallic. Just matte black with grey highlights. Honest injun!

Nice work with the highlights and shading. I think the blades are great.

Nice paint job there MIJ.
However, my inner George Washington compels me to say the horns on the helmet just look wrong. Are they something you added or part of the original?

Theyre horns from the ever-useful chaos beastman sprue. The helmet itself is a kabalite helmet, with the sergeant upgrade head-blade, beastman horns, and some GS added on. I went for the forward pointing horns because:a) it was a bugger to find horns of the right size that pointed straight up and b) he's a Klaivex so I wanted him to look a bit different from the rest of the squad.

I'm curious - what is it about the horns that you dont like? I can think of lots of imperfections in the mini, but the horns hadnt struck me as an issue.

Ditto on the blades. Lovely smooth, slicey, scary. The horns are a cool idea, but are don't quite fit in with the rest of the model's aesthetic. The horns look like sorta lumpy, bumpy, blobby, brownish things when the rest of the model is all razor sharp.
They would fit here perfectly though.. :D

But don't change them! They look fine! Move on, it's just a unit leader, not your HQ centerpiece! Get some paint on them so you can get them on the board and we can start shooting them!

Incubi have horns - Image

only difference with mine is that they point forwards. As Konrad suggests, Im not about to repose them (they bit they come out of on the helm is GS, and I dont want to resculpt it.) I could easily change their colour, though, if brown is a problem. there isnt any other brown on the mini, which is maybe why it sticks out. Much like the termi honours kinda stick out a bit (for me) cos its the only gold/red on the mini.

Great paintjob MiJ.
I don't have any probs with the horns, without them, he would just look too nice, nice as in gentle.

I know they have horns. It's just those ones look odd somehow. I think because of their alignment or something. Can't put my finger on it. It's not the colouring though.

Anyways, ditto to what Konrad said. He's not your general or anything so don't worry too much about it.
