Actually, it wouldnt be a problem in the slightest. It's not like I am short of models, I just hope everyone likes painting Space Marines.

Sounds like we have new duellist for next year. Hooray.

It shouldn't be so complicated really. This was originally sounding like it might be a bit of fun for next year. Now it's sounding laborious and a little petty. So maybe the tools of the trade aren't important. My only thought would be that things like an airbrush and army painter dip that cut down on painting time would go against the point of speed painting to see who can paint the fastest. I was more excited about how many models we could get done in an hour rather than any other factor.
The difference in army painter dip and air brush is that the air brush make the models look good army painter dip is just fast.

It really is not very complicated. I am still in favore of the spevna way. As for models everyone could bring their own model and the models could be the prize for the winner.

I'm inclined to agree - the Spevna method seems the best way to do it. I'm pretty sure that's how the speed painting compos are run at Games Day. Not so sure if giving the minis to the winner is so great, tho. I reckon bragging rights would do...

(*All suggestions for this have been good gentlemen, thanks for helping out I had no idea what speed painting would entail. The following post or challenge is in semi mock jest so please take it with a pinch of salt. This is to avoid things becoming too serious here due to misreadings of internet posts. All in good spirits I hope. My best.) ;)
The difference in army painter dip and air brush is that the air brush make the models look good army painter dip is just fast.

You sir have insulted me. In the words of Harvey Keital in the Duellists, "YOU HAVE INSULTED ME"!

What methods and materials we 'like' is unimportant. I am not a fan of airbrush just as you are not a fan of army painter.
The terms of the duel are secondary to a mans honour. Airbrushes, dips, cocktail sticks, inkguns, pencils, whatever. Agree to terms gentlemen. One model? That's fine. In one hour shall we say? Best looking finished model is the winner judged by a panel of 3 painters. One technique expert, one general artist and one monkey with a banjo. :) Alternatively the inhabitants of the gaming floor can vote.

@ All wishing to join in this mad duel
ashmie shall now retire from this aimless bickering and have satisfaction. Next year at the NH. Speed Painting. Be there or I claim satisfaction. 8-) :ugeek:

Gentlemen wishing to partake please sign up here for the speed painting 2013.

@ job, Is this enough fire yet? Or did you mean actual fire in the comp. Perhaps after the models have been judged we burn them in a bucket outside before casting them into the sea later agreeing never to speak of the hideous duel again. Until the next year. Think of it as a Viking passing for the models. :)

re: fire - how about we HAVE to have some kind of fire damage on the mini. This can be painted on, or actually burned on, for those of us who like plastic fumes :D

ps - as mental as it may sound, I'm in. I may only get an eyeball painted, but it will be a damn finely painted eyeball, sir! :D

@Jus. Ah, so you have watched the film? Excellent. Good man. I don't think those hair styles are meant to be Jewish though. Lol. Just the fashion of the time apparently.
For the record I wont be bringing any actual weapons with me to the speed painting. ;)
In fact like Prim, remind me in a year I may have conveniently forgotten about this :)
@MIJ, I like your idea about making fire a part of the paint design on the model. Thumbs up.
