Faces - great, bases - wicked awesome, blood soaked cloth bits - great.
Armour - Not a big fan to be honest. It looks like the armour, the cloth and the guns are all exactly the same colour. (though this could just be your colour management on your camera/photoshop). I would probably have used a different shade for the soft clothes and the hard armour pieces. As it stands, the whole core of the model seems to blend together.
Mind you, I'm not one of those expert painter types. :D

When you say "cloth" are you talking about the undersuit? If so, it was a deliberate decision to not paint it a different colour from the rest of the more armour-plated kinda bits. 2 reasons, really:

1) theyre not feckin aspect warriors.
2) If i do em 2 tone, then I cant airbrush them half as easily. Overall painting time would rocket.

If you mean the loincloths, then my colour management must be really wack, as the loincloths are whitish/earth and the armour is dark red/black.

As for the guns - yeah, they are the same colour as the armour. I hummed and hawwed about painting them differently to the armour, but in the end I already have too many colours on the models, and adding another woulda just made it even blinger than it already is. I considered painting the guns mostly gold, but I reckon that much gold would be overpowering. As it is, I quite like the mostly-red-with-touches-of-turquoise look. The gold/turq combo looks quite pharonic, I reckon.

The blood on the loincloths was a last minute idea, actually. I was gore-ing up the bases, and when I stuck the first mini onto the base the loincloth looked really stark against the blood on the ground and I thought "surely it would splash?"

out came the paintbrush again...

anyway - thanks for the input. Im off to nagano tomorrow, so i wont be online for a coupla days. enjoy the nagoya game on sunday :)

ps I have just discovered in the past 10 mins that raider keels are just the right size and curvature to make nice blinged up skyboard wings. jammin :D

Yes, thats what I meant. Fair enough.

You're going to cut up a raider to make skyboards? Why not just use oooh I dunno, a skyboard model with bits stuck to it? Surely much less hassle (and cheaper) than chopping up a vehicle.

Raiders come with 2 keels each. And when I say keel, I mean rudder. My nautical terminology is not at its best. I'm not sure, but Ravagers may even have 3 (mine are still on the sprue, in a box in Tsu. Im not.)

Anyway, the DE vehicles have plenty of spare bitz, unlike the DE infantry.

And I am using a skyboard with bits stuck to it. Raider rudders, as a matter of fact. Well, half a raider rudder, anyway. 2 halfs, in fact - one for each wing. What I need to do now is work out how to further pimp it without it looking silly. Easier said than done, given the plethora of spikes I have at my disposal...

*edit* i have 3 raiders and 2 ravagers, btw, so theres plenty of keelrudders to go around :)
