Today I spent a few hours assembling shelves and a painting desk for my hobby room. Once the desk was put together, I did my first painting for the year and put the first coat down on 15 Raven Guard.

As I suspected I might, I skipped my little Napoleonics and instead finished up my Scourge forces.

@ ToD: best of luck with the 6mm Brits.
@ MiJ: Look forward to seeing the completed Compenstatus dreadnaught if that is what it is or if it has already transformed into something all the more sinister.

So, today the Colonel made his way down from An-pachi today, so after meeting up at Nagoya station, picking up some Krispy Cremes, we arrived at my house and played two games of Flames of War. The Colonel led the brave lads of the 101 Airborne, while I played some lists from the same book representing historical units the 101 faced about Bastogne.

In the first game I played Confident Veteran Volksgrenadiers of the 26. VG division. The mission was "Dust up" with our forces defending opposite quarters.

Image
The "People's Grenadiers" infiltrate and push into the the town before the Americans.

Image
The American paratroopers spearhead into the town backed by an artillery park about a bombed out church.

Image
American tanks respond to the call for aid and drive into the town aiming to capture the broken down German Tiger.

Image
The German Panthers arrive with grenadiers riding piggy-back. The German grenadiers fight their way into the American artillery park, while the Panthers lose a couple of tanks to American artillery and Shermans outflanking them.

Image
The German infantry barely hold onto the town. The game ends as the grenadiers capture the American position about the Abbey, but it is a costly victory as the Germans lose the majority of three infantry platoons and 2 Panthers while inflicting only the loss of 5 stands on the Americans.

We went out for lunch and in the 2nd game, I changed my list to the 2nd Panzer Division. We played "Surrounded" and my tanks attacked Voss's American who dug in about the town and along the road.

It turned into a grinding fight. I knocked out the AT guns and then I threw my infantry into an assault resulting with them all falling. Then I attempted to blast out the Americans with the concentrated firepower of the Stugs, Panthers and flak-tracks, Col Voss was patient and steady. The artillery, AT guns and Shermans picked off my tanks.

The game ended with my tanks driving off the last of the paratroopers, but the remaining two Shermans combined with the artillery to brew up the last two Panthers on the objective to break the German attack.

Overall, it was two hotly decongested games. We traded wins and both were close right up to the end, so it was a great day of gaming. Thanks to the Colonel for making his way down for the two games.

nice batrep, Job :) I do love a good set o gaming photos, even if they are for a game I dont play meself (although, fair play to FoW, the one time I did play it I really enjoyed it.) Nice scenery, too, btw.

also, well done Prim for painting in the new gaff for the first time. Tip o the hat :)

Today I fiddled a wee bit with the base for the Proj, and decided that the time has come when I'm just a bit bored with it, and need to get the thing finished and done with. For what it's worth, btw, it is NOT a Compensatus class dread (actually I believe theyre called Deredeo class. Folks on t'internet have pointed out that they seem to be compensating for summat, given the stupendous amount of dakka they can bring. Actually, I really like em. It's like the Emprah got a look at some Tau Broadsides and spake thusly: "Lo! Get me some o those, but with more eagles n skullz n shit" and behold, the deredeo was bornded.)

incidentally, does anybody else find that Sunday evening is completely ruined by the knowledge that come Monday morning youre going to have to get up and go to work?

@MiJ, ah yes, Sunday evening has that work cloud hanging overhead for me, even if work isn't really so bad.
Of course, when I worked in eikaiwa land this happened on Monday. I had heard that some Japanese associate it with Sazae-san coming on the telly on Sundays..a good analogue for Brits would be Last of the Summer wine (British sit com that ran forever featuring 3 old men falling off things, converting baths into go-karts and trying to see elderly womens underwear). That show always did the job of signalling that the weekend was over. Is there an American or Kiwi equivalent of a similar Sunday buzz-kill show I wonder?

@Spev, lovely picts, both painting and models. I'll get my saga stuff on the go sometime this year and hopefully shoot them with Norman crossbows.
@Job, nice report, you certainly seem to have all the gubbinz for a great table.
@Prim, sounds like you're getting there.

Anyway. I am going to bed far too late as I wanted to get a start on my citi-def for Dredd, finally. Almost all the base coating is done on 8 models, hope to finish them through the week. I stuck to the original colouring of the citi-def in the comic, which is basically very green. One classic Brian Bolland cover for Block Mania goes with cd in lurid greens, red knee pads and armour, with the odd bit of lemon yellow webbing and lettering, so I'll go with that, although I am certain that any colour combination would have done for the setting.
Also made a few 40k lists to aid in deciding what I ought to take in May.

Got a bunch of my fallschirmjager done over the weekend. Realized I have all the support weapons painted and not enough actual infantry...

Can't really think of an Aussie equivalent of "weekend is over buzzkill TV".

gaaaaah.

Spent too many hours this evening glued to my PC screen typing up a report for uni tomorrow. Eyeballs will need to be unpeeled from back of eye sockets soon, methinks.

zippedee doo dah done, painting-wise. Razzin frazzin real life, stickin' its nose in where it aint welcome...

A moment's reflection leads me to believe that all I need to paint for naghammer is 6 infantry and 1 vehicle. To be fair, its a big vehicle, and one of the infantry is my commander, but even so, I reckon even I can get it done. Then there's the Infinity issue, which basically amounts to: How many Infinity minis can MiJ get done before May? 10 is a mininum, 14 would be awesome, but we shall see, we shall see...

Got my driver painted up this weekend. Still ought to fiddle around with her bottom  to get her to fit in the seat a bit more solidly, or fiddle with the seat to fit her bottom more solidly, but jobs a good 'un I say.
Did a bit of painting on the Trakk too. Worked on a sculpting a gunner to go with the driver last night. No where near finished, but a solid start.

No hobby stuff myself. A bit run down from a cold and work.
