What did you do today.
Re: What did you do today.
I took some pictures of the D&D models I've been painting. Still have another 3 left to go.
This was mostly touch ups and giving her a face. I didn't even strip the model. It was a new experience to try to do normal human facial features. This was also the first female miniature I have painted.
This one needed to be stripped and completely redone. Again, the face took more effort than anything else. I tried doing a one-time mix for her skin so she wouldn't have the exact same skin tone as all the other figures.
The dwarf was pretty straightforward and didn't change much even though I stripped several layers of paint off him before starting. Mostly he just needed a non-sloppy paint job. Giving him eyebrows really helped his face.

Looking good.
Faces are always a pain to paint. I found that using a black pen made doing the eyes a lot easier. Joshin sells pens made for using over paint called Gundam Markers, they have a fairly fine point and you can also buy an eraser for them which comes in handy if you make a mistake. (Though you need to be quick about using it before the ink leaves a mark).

Good going Auxryn!
As Prim said, painting faces is certainly a headache
and yet it is often the first thing people look at when they pick up a model, so all your efforts are well worth it! Some days everything will go super easy and the next day your hand may be shaking, or you are tired, etc...It is just a bit hit and miss, especially with eyes. Good luck and always take lots of breaks.

Re: What did you do today.
Faces are a key area on minis that tbh everyone has trouble with. It's sometimes even worth doing the face first, just to have a focal point to keep things centred when you do the rest of the mini. Keep fighting the good fight
The past couple of days I've been making progress on my Oiran. I'd say I was satisfied with the freehand. It's something I tend to avoid, so for a not-exactly-first-but-still-pretty-early-days attempt I think it's acceptable. It's based on a biscuit tin lid, btw
The mini is not quite finished at this point - still needs the hair highlighted and the face diddled with. Problem is that she ain't got no eyes, and given the mask over the rest of her face, giving her a focal point is proving troublesome. Anyway, progress so far:

Also, wtf is with those hands? Are they miscast, or is she wearing tiger-claws, or is she secretly a mannequin or what?

2 great games of Bolt Action at Casa de Primarch today.
His Yanks gave my Jerries a pasting in the first game, but German efficiency and coolness prevailed in the second.
The evenings was rounded off with beer and yakitori.

Re: What did you do today.
Got some brush time in today and pretty much finished my first batch of post-apocalypse survivors and weathered some vehicles as scenery.

Photo is crappy but fairly happy with how they've come out. First time I've 'weathered' non-vehicles, dirtying the boots, coat-hems, knees, elbows, etc.

So many games, so little time....
