Then there's the staggering unlikelihood of five of the seven alien races being humanoid, and at least one of them sharing the same cellular biology as humans. To top it off, there's the flat-out magic of the Dog-warriors somehow doubling their mass when they transform. There's no good way to explain that. It's pure pulp soft sci-fi, it just tries to hide it.
