Was just building a list for a 40k game tomorrow in army builder.

I noticed that, according to AB, including all supplements and Forge World army lists (e.g. corsairs, red scorpions, etc), there are 55 available armies/variant armies for 40k.

Fifty-five.

Things are, I think, a tad out of hand...

yesterday, i had a fun day of gaming at the mie pla model con. loooots of people were there, several of whom seemed interested in the concept of using plastic toys in actual games, so with luck we may see an increase in the number of mini wargamers round here.

i played two games - the first was warmachine mk3 against dlord, which was very fun and reminded me how much i like warmachine. easy to learn the basics, but buggersome difficult to master. i was also struck by how you tend to lose (which i did) based on your own mistakes rather than because your opponent has a certain model or the dice hate you or whatever.

my second game was an equally fun game of 40k against konrad's IG/orks (i had dark eldar/corsairs.) it was a close thing, ending 6/6 in vps.

overall, a very gratifying day of gaming, and many thanks to phil, eric and satoru for making it possible :)

And a great day of grim-dark destruction and otaku geekery it was. Thanks to DLord and MIJ for the beautiful terrain. I got in two games of 40K. The first was me and Underdweller playing hide and seek vs Ono-sans GORKANAUT! My fish-head allies managed to pop the Orks Trukks and my Squat/Orks ran them down with Bikers. Luckily the GORKANAUT was off on a flank, so we had time to put some ruins between us and UnderD's Riptide only had to weather a turn or two holding the thing off.
And game two was like MIJ says, but not that close. He was literally behind my lines turn one, I gunned down all but one bike. Which then rampaged through my back field. I held of one flank pretty well, until his wytches got there....
I only wish 40K was not so difficult. I did not have much time to check out the other models and chat with the other geeks. Maybe next time we bring Space Hulk or FUBAR or something. I'll put up some pics later.
...and now his Head was full of nothing but Inchantments, Quarrels, Battles, Challenges, Wounds, Complaints, Amours, and abundance of Stuff and Impossibilities.....

If by FUBAR you mean the one page rules set, I'd most definitely be up for that!

Yeah, I was looking at the One Page rules the other day. Reminded me of FUBAR.

Oh, and we were just off in the corner. There were probably 30+ tables of this stuff.

I thought this was cute as hell

The best IMO were these lighted Star Wars dioramas. They had them parked in a dark room. 144 scale. Absolutely like looking at a screen.

Thanks for the pictures, Konrad! There are lots more on this site of the event in general:

http://blog.livedoor.jp/miemodeler/

And thanks to you and Onosan for letting me join your game. That Gorkanaut was pretty intimidating, but luckily it stayed far away from me, and the Orks all fought with the other Orks, leaving me with lots of things to shoot at. So, a good game for Tau.

Also thanks to Dungeonlord for what will likely be my last live game of Mark II Warmachine. Hopefully we can try out Mark III at the next Kuwana event.

Thanks to Satorusan and his friends for giving us a place to play and organizing the event.
