Today: More swampfriends!

Image

What's that? There shouldn't be an "r" there?

...Well, that's a bit more sinister, isn't it?

(The Silurids are not my favorite models in the batch - they have some difficult-to-manage gaps in odd places, and are kind of simultaneously smooth and blobby, which doesn't mesh with my painting style very well. But they turned out ok, so all's well that ends well!)

Well, we are at near-opposite ends of the "tiny works of art" versus "nice-looking playing pieces" spectrum of miniatures-painting philosophy. :D

(Bad Juju should be done tonight...)

Still chugging away. Finished up Bad Juju tonight, and got a start on Zoraida herself.

She's maybe a wee bit more green than I'd like, but on the other hand she's a witch who lives in a swamp - her official art is actually rather greener than my paint job is turning out.

Apparently, knowing I won't have to paint a whole bunch more of the same miniature does wonders for my productivity. Like, I didn't really love painting the Silurids, but knowing I'd never have to paint any more after my three were done made it easier to soldier through it.

@ToD - Nice work on Juju.
@J-R - Cthulu Marines? I don't know that chapter.

I spent this evening painting British Colonial Era infantry.

Great speed and effort ToD! Swamp Thing looks suitably scary and swampy. :)

Hmm...Cthulu marines sounds like some warp afflicted chapter to me. ;)

One crew, done and dusted! 9 days from assembly to finish - I'm as surprised as anyone, I have to say. (To be self-deprecating, it's a lot of drybrush and wash-heavy paint jobs, with lots of very forgiving browns, grays, greens, and gray-greens, but still.) That's 47 stones without any upgrades at all, so a good place to get started for 40 soulstone games. Get some games under my belt and I can get an idea of what I'd like to add.

I think the next step (after figuring out transport options) is to be a good gaming citizen and work on getting some terrain together. I have a mat, thanks to Konrad, and a selection of trees and water features, so I think I'll get a couple of these very snazzy bayou-themed buildings from Lasercraft Workshop, plus maybe make a hill or two, to round things out.

Shipping to Japan is ridonkulous, of course, but luckily enough my folks are sending a package my way in the next month or so, so I'll be able to piggy-back on that.
