@Ystreak - I do like the GW beastmen. Everybody should have some. They do indeed look good all a-group'd.
Today I finished.....a
nother Tiefling! Nearly done, now, though.
I......'m not sure what to say about this sculpt. On the one hand, the face is great - nice sneer, clean sculpt (easy to paint) and, y'know, characterful face, as elvey faces go. Also the armour is well done - clean lines and interesting choice of weapon. Certainly, it was a fun mini to paint, no doubt about that.
On t'other hand, there are a couple of things that throw this sculpt off. The first is that it's the most ridonculous example of boob plate I've seen in ages. Srsly. When wearing armour, where does it say to expose your chest, belly, thighs and ass? Ok, yes, she has a shield, but ffs people. The second thing that bugs me is...well. Damn. Dem canonballs surely aint natural. Considering the high quality of the rest of the sculpt, what the heck happened there? Tis very odd indeed.
Anyway, pics. It was a lot of fun to paint, and given the overall high standard of the fig ye kinda have to assume the aforementioned criticisms were a deliberate choice by the sculptor, so fair do's.
ps @ jus - since you asked, a Tiefling is a type of demi-daemon thingy from D&D. It's what you get 9 months after a visit from a Succubus or Incubus. They're a somewhat distinct species, though, with subsequent generations looking less daemony (or more, depending on their family tree, I spose.)
You asked about skin tones - there are two different ones. The paler one (as seen on canonballs up there) is GW tentacle pink + Scale 75 kalahari orange at about a 2/1 ratio, with shadows by adding VMA mahogany, highlights by adding more tentacle pink and eventually scale 75 white sand. The darker skin tone (as seen on the bugbears) is GW purple (not sure which one - mine is long since decanted into a dropper bottle) + VGC scarlet red + Scale 75 kalahari orange, with the same shadow and highlight as before. Seems fiddly, but once it's all on the palette its just a matter of mixing, really.
