I finished up Steelheart's Champions this evening - pretty good for just ctrl-C ctrl-V'ing my Marine paint scheme onto some Stormcast.









I especially like the bases on these guys, but they're a nice set of poses as well, Obryn in particular.

The names on the bases are pretty ugly, but I couldn't find a finer-tipped white pen - for the forseeable future, these guys are going to be getting a lot of use in demo games, and I've noticed that confusion over which model is who is a common source of trouble for new players. Moreso with the Chaos guys, who are all basically "half-naked dude with axe," but since the Chaos warband will definitely need names I might as well be fair about it and put them on everybody.

This evening I varnished the last of my figures for Dragon Rampant and painted their bases. I just need to add flock tomorrow and they're all done.

Those are nice bases on those shadespire chaps (and lady, of course). Recently I've spent a couple of days assembling an ork mega dread, which is a big orky wotsit from FW that I intend to paint and sell cos of needing funds for cardboard crack (it should be pointed out that it's been sitting around for ages doing nowt so it may as well make itself useful). To that end I spent this evening undercoating aforementioned orky wotsit, as well as 1 nurgle tank, 1 nurgle plague hulk (the assembling of which nearly drove me up the wall, btw), 3 large terminator chaps and 10 small poxy chaps. Everything is currently looking very black, but all shall change upon the morrow. Probably. Unless I end up watching telly or summat. Anyway: Hobby was done.

sorry, no pics, but I pledged to post more this year, so here goes:

This evening I put down the metalwork on the stuff I mentioned in my previous post. If anybody knows why Vallejo Air Metallic black/silver reacts so badly to Tamiya thinner, plz let me know. Just...bleurgh. Instead of shooting through the airbrush in a fine mist as one would expect, it goes all...claggy, and comes out in stringy spurts, leaving wierd wee clumpy silver spodges. Since I was painting an orky dread and some nurgle stuff, wierd splotches of silver on top of the black/silver was actually not that much of a problem, as everything is going to have the crap weathered out of it anyway, but it's dang baffling as to why this might happen. Also made cleaning the airbrush a bloody nightmare.

Anyway, I coloured in a whole bunch of stuff kinda silvery, then brown-inked the crap out of it so it's mostly all rusty metal coloured at this point. I could probly call the mega-dread done and move on, but I suppose I should add a bit of colour to the armour plates and suchlike
