Yesterday I began painting my Skaven watchtower, just the first layer or two of the main colour. I also based up 20 more Russians for Bolt Action. I hope to have all my BA models finished by the end of the New Year break.
Loved my first game of Bolt Action. I think my birthday present in March will be my Polish or Birttish Airborne :)

Finished painting the bastion and now have to put on doors, balconies, etc. but it should be partially ready to be used by anyone this weekend. Wfb or 40k. I'm trying to make it have interchangeable features to easily switch it from one game to another.

Picked up some really nice terrain for only about 500yen a piece. A cave entrance, and two rock formations with room in them for a dreadnought. I will post a pick tmw. Very happy with them. I hope to pick up three pieces a month to make a nice gaming table full of terrain sections; volcanic section and so on.

I also picked up some nice train accessories to be painted to make an elevated guard walkway that can span the table. Also some nice bridge pieces. Damn having only two hands to paint with!

Based a few other terrain models. My heavy plasma cannon is coming along nicely. And by that, I mean in my head. Still needs to be painted but shouldn't take long. Tmw is gonna be a busy day.

The terrain I picked up for about 600yen a piece. The tunnel to the root of the Xmas question.

Thank you to the excellent and admirable Hobbits who visited Crickhollow today. (My gaff). I had a great time relaxing and finally getting some gaming in.
Thanks for making Christmas that more fun with some boardgames lads. Happy gaming for 2013.
;) :)

Many thanks to Ash, Dlord and Satoru for a good day's gaming. Dlord managed to prove he is indeed still the lord o the dungeon, and ain't too shabby at Popular Corridor Based Space Games, either. Not convinced by his dodgy overwatch dice rolling, though. I reckon dem dice are dodgy. Yes I know they're my dice, dun't matter. Dodgy, I say. Dodgy... :?

Has anyone ever bought small metal rods for supporting minis on their bases? I want to put some warhawks on 40mm bases but they would be really top heavy and the little plastic rod that GW supply is not strong enough.

How big is a warhawk? My superheavy grav tank (FW) is supported on one plastic GW stand just fine.

Unless a warhawk is some kind of mega-huge spaceship, I suspect the problem lies in the attachment of mini to rod, rather than the rod itself.

I have in the past drilled a hole in the plastic stand and put a rod in the top. I then drilled a hole in the mini that allowed me to support the model more easily. I usually do this when I dont want a permanently attached flight stand, but the joint between mini and stand isn't good enough to support the mini without glue.

Thanks for the response MiJ and Prim. Here is what the mini looks like. Both the hawk and the rider are metal so very top heavy.

I was thinking about using some decorative rocks on the base and then put in a rod. Then I will have to drill the hole in the bottom of the underside of the hawk so that it is deeper and will be able to give better support.

@Prim - where did you find the metal rod?
