On-topic, I've put painting on hold til I can get some more miniatures, and have been continuing my crawl through Blackstone Fortress - I've been honest with dice and such, but despite a few hairy moments am still doing OK. Tonight I should be ready to assault the final stronghold that'll unlock the last mission and that mysterious sealed envelope of loot.
Let us know what was in yours! There's quite a few variations as I understand it.
I will! I've actually been kind of aggravated trying to learn more about it (and what's in the big Escalation envelope) as people are being very cagey and "we must not spoil ourselves" online about it. I like a surprise as much as the next guy, but it's not like Blackstone Fortress is an M. Night Shyamalan movie.

(OTOH, of course, I'm not opening it until I'm instructed to, so.)

The weekend's puttying progress.
Not entirely happy with the shield. A bit of an experiment and I was not very careful in doing the scale texture. I did not get the texture layer of putty an even thickness and it shows. The knife was a bit tooooo sharp too. I'll get it next time.

And while the putty was curing, I dug out some Avatars of War Dwarf Berserkers I'm going to turn into Chaos Dwarves.

@Konrad - Excellent stuff. Those Dwarves look pretty mean.

Today was my first day of furlough, so I did some painting. Hopefully I will be able to keep up a good pace.
On Sunday I finished up 30 troops for the Indian National Army of WW2. Not to be confused with the British-Indian Army, these guys were allied to the Imperial Japanese Army and assisted with the attempted invasion of India. In total these fellows took me about 9 days to paint from undercoating to what you see here.

ooh, btw, that reminds me. Where should a chap go about getting D&D type minis?
In my opinion, cmon's zombicide and massive darkness games sport some fantastic miniatures for DnD. I would give a stronger recommendation of they weren't such a pain to get a hold of. Unless you're willing (like me) to buy the actual games. The minis are worth it. But that's just me.

@Prim: hey neat looking imperial guard you got there. Now if only they had a commissar with a great coat, a great beard and a great turban.

@ KOnrad: CHAOS DWARVES! natsukashii. don't forget to add the horns. They're very important.

@ Tod: I bite the bullet and got Blackstone fortress as well. ... I thought the minis would be great for 40k wrath and glory. (which will have a new edition coming this week apparently). Have you gotten the expansions etc yet? The Zoat is pretty cool. I haven't opened the mystery envelope yet either.

Being real close to finishing up the main questline, I think I'm going to take advantage of Nagoya's lax attitude towards quarantine and mask up and go get the big Escalation expansion tomorrow if nobody's bought it from Yodobashi yet (some very good PC-ish models in there, at the very least). I hadn't bought any yet, but actually playing the game has got me hype for it again, so cash-flow permitting I'll probably pick everything up eventually.

Well, technically those guys would be traitors, they were ex-Imperial troops who sought to overthrow (British) Imperial rule and restore sovereignty to India. So no commissar sadly.

Rest assured that horns are in the works.

Spent an entertaining afternoon scrolling through the old Realms of Chaos books. Ian Miller is a mad genius. There were some really, really nice Red Corsairs in the "28" magazine that were really inspiring. It would be so fun to do some eeeevil marines. But I'd want to make them from Bigmarines and Sigmarine bits and would end up spending 3man to make a Kill-team..... Lots of other projects that need my attention.

I had an unsuccessful Blackstone run last night - having to get through 8 encounters before even hitting the final vault is rough, and I had a bunch of grievous wounds on my guys at less than the halfway point. Fortunately I have a few runs before the timer is up and I lose, so not panicking yet.

I did venture to the not-quite-a-ghost-town-but-still-very-quiet Sakae today to pick up Escalation from Yodobashi, which is sort of mysteriously open. So that'll give me some painting to do, and some gaming to do when (knock on wood) I finish up the main quest in Blackstone.

Got in a productive day of puttying. Got lots of fiddly details done on the Chaos Dwarves and just need to tidy up a couple bits.
Got the Digga-Dinorider about 90% done.

And I think I found my next miniature project.

My daughter spends most of her days plugged into Youtube and somehow came across this.

You still lurking about Dennis? This is so you!
