@dave - there is no such thing as too much rust effects, at least when painting nurgle. I mean, say you're painting Imperial Guard. Those vehicles and big heavy weapons are gonna get a tiny bit grimy, so use a gentle hand when weathering. Orks, say, are gonna be pretty nasty in the crevasses and on the edges of the armour. Nurgle marines? Sheeeeeeeit. They'm gonna be clods of rust held together by vaguely armour shaped bits of metal. With holes in. And probably oozy bits, too.

Also, again with nurgle, kitbashing is where it's at. Embrace the kitbash. Slap some green stuff on it. Make guitar strings your friend (for pipes), and smother those bad boys in superglue and baking soda corrosion. Dooo eeeeeet!

As for me, I've been painting, but not minis. I had a bit of a brainwave whereby I realised that while I've been diddling about on painting basic land cards for MtG in the past, I could easily spend the same time/effort on a more expensive card (literally any other card than basic land) and sell it for a profit. There was a moment where I wondered if it was a good idea to risk painting on "expensive" cards (say, 10-20 bucks) but then I figured that we all regularly paint on much more expensive canvases than that and nobody bats an eyelid. So, here's my first try at painting a Kaladesh Invention style border on a (Championship deck) Chrome Mox. I happen to have 8 of these, so I can afford to do iterations and learn to improve. Plus I have one in a deck I use anyway, so even if I had completely screwed it up, at least it'd've been useful. Now to decide if I want to sell this, or do a better one using what I learned from V1...

I got some bases for potential Gauntlet submissions done over the week.
I recognise that base size and I think I know what it's for. I had the same idea.
It's a pretty obvious choice but I had them lying around in sub-assemblies for more than an year now so I decided this was a great opportunity to finally paint them. I look forward to seeing your take on it if you do decide to go for it too.

@ToD - Great looking Death Guard/Dusk Raiders.

Ack! Give Ursala back! I need to fix her neck!

And white on white on white..... Il est difficile de peindre en blanc.
The buttons are too shiny, need to be brass not yellow-gold. So I fixed that since I took the pic. The backpacks are all supposed to be cowhide with the hair left on. I did this one all brown to be quick, but I'll play with patterns on the other ones. Image Image

@Prim - nice work! Are those jump packs from FW, or something third party?

@konrad uuugh that white! *chef's kiss*

I did up three more nurgle fight boys:

Really, once I power through the annoying paint-between-the-lines of the grey panels, they go pretty quick. (The cleaver blade will also hopefully pop better against a background that isn't the exact same color it is.)

@Konrad - I'll pass Ursula back next time I see you. Nice work on the Frenchman, (I'm presuming that's what he is).

@ToD - The jump packs are from a third party, but I can't remember who. Maybe Spellcrow?

I was wondering why the guy in front was holding a pipe until I read this.

Festius did it, in the library :?

Nice work though, everyone. Lovely white on the historics*, Konrad, and as always great work on the stinkies, Dave.

As for me, no constructive hobbying these last few days, although I still feel the itch to paint. I’ve just been busy with Arena (the new set came out a couple days ago, and I’ve been playing a sealed game, which was going fine right up until my wife picked up the laundry basket in exactly the way that means “stop playing that right now or I will hang the laundry that you said you would hang and I won’t complain but will also file it away for any future complaints I may have”. You know the way I mean. That way. So yeah, that particular game was aborted halfway through, and chores were duly done ;) )

I’ve also been watching “Sweet Home” on Netflix, which appears to be a documentary on life in an apartment block in Korea. Don’t fancy going there on my holidays, lemme tell you :?

*historics: anything that doesn’t have a laser gun or a dragon on it.

@mij those Magic cards always look awesome, you're showing real talent there!

@Primarch love the variety and throughput. The historical are really interesting but love that white paint job on the 30k figures too, nice work.

@Dave I'm still loving the Dusk Raiders, you're making a really distinctive but still unmistakably Nurgle look for the army.

First thing I've done in ages that actually decreased the size of my backlog. I reckon I'll play Warcry again before 40k so these two and a Lord Arcanum are high priority for Sacrosanct chamber. Some of the 40k backlog does match the Gauntlet theme though so kicked that off today too, hopefully with the quiet state of emergency weekends I can get them knocked over.

@Jye - Nice gryph hounds. The contrast colours seem to be a good fit for them.

As for myself, I painted up some pirates.

The guy in purple pantaloons is from Reaper minis, the others are all from Black Scorpion.

I also did another mini, which is over in the Gauntlet section.
