gaming mats

Just wondering where people get their gaming mats from, those who use them. I fancy one for X-wing, but while there are a plethora of lovely options out there, usually about the 35euro price mark for a mouse mat style one, I'm struggling to find anywhere that doesn't charge at least that for shipping. The price for the mat seems reasonable, but to basically double it once shipping is factored in is making me back off.

Does anybody have any suggestions for where to buy gaming mats, preferably mouse-mat style ones, for a reasonable price, shipped? Lay thy wisdom upon me, Nagoyahammerites...

I typically buy them when I'm OS and bring them back myself to save on shipping.I bought my X-Wing mats from someone when they were having a free shipping or discount shipping sale (sorry, don't recall what site I bought them from).

Figures :( Thanks for the response anyhoo, Ystreak. Should've taken you up on your offer of picking one up for me while you were in the US. Woe is silly me  I suppose Black Friday is coming up soonish. We shall see what that throws up.

I don't suppose anybody would be interested in joining me in buying a/some mats? Malifaux, infinity, Dropfleet, x-wing and I spose any game really all have uses for quickly set-uppable gaming surfaces. Most companies charge a good deal less shipping per item for orders of multiple mats. Bit of a reach, but hey, no harm in asking, eh :)

Long term, I'm interested in having a few decent mats. Nothing depicting the cold realms of space, but there are things I'm on the look out for. Ocean expanses for future piratical bobbins, wasteland, cobbles, dungeon floors, mordoresque magma wastes, etc.

I'm currently leaning towards DeepCut Studio, assuming I bite at all. Is there anything they do that tickles your fancy? I'm considering maaaaybe 2 mats for myself, but it'll depend on whether or not I earn any hobby money in the near future. Could come to nothing. Dunno. Anyway, as and when I do buy, I'm thinking cyber monday* sales is as good a time as any, and not too long away. Would you be up for joining me on a combined venture, Lovejoy-san?

*Nov 28, apparently.

If you're going with DeepCut, I might be in for a mat from Dropzone, depending on how the rest of my hobby purchases shake out for November / December. Remind me again when the 28th gets closer?

I'll have a ponder. The stuff on the Deep Cut site looks pretty promising, the only problem will be deciding which to spring for.

Great minds must ponder alike. I've been looking at some of that Deep Cut stuff too. Dungeon Lord has a desert mat that is just aces.

well, if you're interested, let me know on this thread (or PM or whatever) before cyber monday happens. Plenty of time to ponder until then :)
