Gearing up for the big game

For those of you who dont know (or possibly dont care), Pikey and I are playing an 11000 point game of Apocalypse on the 20th and 21st of November.

Now, I'm assuming that Pikey will have all of his models painted as he's generally good like that, but I on the other hand am not.

Since I am taking a mix of Blood Angels, Space Wolves and Raven Guard, I have to do something to allow Pikey to see the difference between the units without having to bend down and peer at the plastic accessories sculpted onto the figures. So, it is my goal to get all my models undercoated in the correct colours before this game (Red for the Angels, Blue/Grey for the Wolves and Black for the Ravens). I also need to build a couple of extra bits and pieces as well.

As of 7pm on Nov 7th my to do list is:
Make 1 vehicle and 10 infantry models.
Undercoat 7 vehicles
Undercoat 4 terminators and 43 regular infantry.

Ganbarimasu!!

Make spray paint your friend. One red, one blue grey, one black. You should be done in an evening.

This. The "Creative Color" brand, which most home centers seem to carry, has a nice blue-grey shade that I used for undercoating for a while. If you're careful about how you spray (short, controlled bursts, as MIJ is fond of onomatopoeia-ing) there's no appreciable loss of detail with regular spray paints, neither.

Except that I want the blue grey to be Shadow Grey so that they match the rest of my space wolves, and they are by far the majority of the models that I need to paint. The Raven Guard are nearly all done and will be getting sprayed. The only blood angels I have left to do dont really justify buying a new can of paint when there are only a couple of them.

either buy an airbrush so you can use shadow grey, or take a wander through Tamiya's range of sprays. They do mostly military colours, and shadow grey is a pretty non offensive military typey colour. There should be something close-ish to what you want. If you wanna be fussy though, then its airbrushin' time.
