Using Washes

Following on from Spevna's link to the guy who only uses washes to paint his models I gave it a shot yesterday. Here is the result.

The model didnt take long to paint and the results are ok. I had to use multiple washes to get a more solid colour as the first layer looked very pale. I think I may try with a darker base colour next time as the white made everything too light. (Yet again reinforcing my opinion that white is a pain).

Aside from the regular washes I also used some watered down boltgun metal for the metal bits, bleached bone for the teeth/claws, dwarf bronze for the earring and mechrite red for the eyes, tongue.

Comments and feedback gentlemen.

So that's just washes straight on a white undercoat? Noice!

Dangit, all these ways to paint a bunch of models quick. Must resist urge to buy a messload of goblins!

I would say that most definitely got the job done mate :)

Did you remember to do a black wash over the white AND drybush (very lightly) with white ?

@ Mike: Well, I have pretty much caught up with my painting backlog, so it's about time for another project! Hmm, Grenadiers or Gobbos?

I hate smart arses that point out mold lines ;)

I think it looks good and is a nifty way to get a tabletop quality army done fast.

Well, I wasn't going to ruin a model I'd spent ages filing down now was I.
This was just a test run. In the future I will remove the mould lines.

I think model choice plays a big part with how well this technique works. Minis with lots of nooks and crannies lend themselves well to this. Space Marines and other models with large flat surfaces do not so much.
