Indraugnir the dragon wishes all a Happy new year! rar!
still very WIP, albeit table top ready, dragon mount for my HIghelf general. The model did come with a back mounted standing platform for a 28 mm model to prop up on, but I think thats kind of lame. You really ought to be riding a dragon. How I'm going to model a saddle on it I don't know yet.
next up on the agenda are the golden turkeys of sanguinius.
Allow me to present: "purgatorio squad"
if you've been following the blood angels thread in the 40k general forum, you should know that I plan on having a fair few of these angel marines, so I will undoubtably run into onaji pose/parts syndrome across several squads. Any outrageous modelling ideas to vary them up abit?

You have 5 sets of arms, legs, torsos and what not to choose from. Try not to use the same combo twice, that will add a bit of variety. You also have a LOT of heads to choose from so mix those up a bit as well.
You can also try to make the bases different. e.g. Having some standing on rocks etc.

I have managed to get a couple of things finished over the holidays.
First up a war dog for my Khador Warmachine force.
Secondly, Bishop an outcast (mercenary) for Malifaux.

He's a bit lighter in real life.

@Just they look good I would say one thing you might consider is they are after all a unit. they not only can look the same but some might say they should look the same... you could name each of them and put some purity seals on them to give them a bit of their own flavor..I would take a lesson from the space hulk Angels... unless there is a bit of fluff that restricts them from being named... of having PSeals...

Well, its not exactly painting, but I got my first Dark Eldar Hellion put together today and here are the results.
As you can see, there is no flying stand. The model is attached directly to the piece of scenery. I wanted to have him look like he was zooming round a corner using the chain in his hand as an anchor (think the way the Batmobile turns in the old Michael Keaton movie).
It didn't quite come out the way I wanted, but now it looks like he is on the prowl for victims, looking round every corner.

And here is the picture showing the support.

As you can see the wire is pretty noticeable. Its about the thickness of a paperclip and I intend to just paint it black and hopefully it shouldn't draw too much attention.
Now I just need to file down a couple of mould lines and I'm done.

Great pose there Prim.
Looking forward to seeing the rest of them.
BTW I guess you didn't see the episode of 'Mythbusters' wher they de-bunked the Batman-cable-swing-around-the-corner trick

Well, Batman isn't a 5000 year old, malicious space elf on a flying board now is he?

lovely and dynamic

I thoroughly approve of the whole "swing round corners on a pole" pose. Im likely to do it on my own hellions, in fact. Theyre as yet unpainted and indeed un-stuck-together. Why is this? Well, its cos I got a new PS3 today, and have spent a joyously unproductive day having the bejeezus scared out of me by space zombie mutants in Dead Space. Predictions for 2011: dave's glacial painting rate is about to get...geological.

Pfff. Pfff I say. I call Pfff on your outrageous claims. I rack up a good 10 hours a week on PC games (on a slow week) and still manage to paint at a glacial speed.
The trick is to set time limits on yourself. Games can suck you in just as much as painting can. Similarly, when your eyes start burning because you haven't blinked in the past 14 hours that means its a good time to call it a day.
The way I manage my game playing time Vs hobby time is based on how likely I am to be interrupted. E.g. When I get home after work I usually have 1 hour before dinner time and 2 after to relax. I know that when I am summoned for food that I must finish what I am doing, so I play games when I get home and when the food hits the table I hit the save button. After dinner I can sit and paint whilst my wife watches TV and I wont get bothered for a good couple of hours. (Of course, I waste endless amounts of time posting on this forum or scrabbling through my games room looking for the one bit that I absolutely need).
Just like painting or anything else, dont let video games dominate your every waking moment, try to vary your free time activities and you'll A) feel refreshed, B) achieve something and C) wont have zombie space mutant pirate dinosaurs scaring your witless all night.
