An alternative Treeman

Post by kojibear » Sat Apr 16, 2011 12:57 pm

Hi everyone,

I would like to have a more rock based 'Treeman' for the Hawk Lords' Wood Elf army. Which of these do you like and if you can offer any other suggestions please let me know :D

Choice A

If choice A were taller I would say go for that. As it is, choice B is best in my opinion.

I say choice C as it looks more primeval. Granted the sculpt isnt as nice, but the other two are too clearly those thingies from Hordes (ie. constructed wotsits) whereas choice C looks like something the forest spat out cos it was pissed off.

I would say like Prim, that the B is the coolest with the coolest concept, with rock armour plates upon the tree trunks. A is also pretty cool but they have the same problem:

The joints in their arms and legs seems to be sawed off and bound together by rope or something so to me same as MiJ, they look more like constructs rather than something "raw rom the nature" like a treeman. I don't think that hard core wood elves woud ever cut in a tree to build something, but I am not the elf expert here but that is just my opinion.

My vote is for C, he looks the best

looking at C, it strikes me as a rock golem with fuzz greenstuffed on. It might be worth your while looking for similar rock-golemy type minis and just greening them up yourself, maybe?

so no, treebeard and his mates, however nice, would not do.

unless he kojibear meant, like, yknow raAAAAAWK, in which case, get one of those plastic KISS action figures and green stuff him up a bit :D

That would be funny :D

On a more serious note, I would cast my vote on B. I like the height of the model to represent a "tree-champion" as much as it is in keeping with a tree with rock-armor.
