*BUMP!*

Ok folks - just a quick reminder that you have one month to get that competition mini painted. That's plenty of time for anybody (well, anybody who isnt me) to get a nice piece done. So, stop muckin' about painting regiments and squads upon squads of units for the 40k tourney and get to work on that showcase! Show the world (well, the Nagoya based part of it, anyway) what you can do with a paintbrush!

Remember - you only need to paint one, that's right one mini to be in with a chance of winning. It doesn't need to be one from your army, either - it can be any mini from your collection, so get to it, folks, and good luck :)

In the single model category. Can one have things like grots ripers or servo skulls on separate bases but part of the same entry? What about heavy weapons teams for the guard. It is one kit and a two wound model in the game but what is it in terms of category?

No. Single model means single model. One. Uno. Hitotsu.

What it is in the game is irrelevant, as the rules clearly state. It's a fair question regarding the compo, though. A heavy weapons team is a single miniature as long as both guardsmen and the gun are mounted on the same base.

Ps before anybody asks: the gun team count as a single mini because they are on a single base. guns don't levitate and need a couple of guardsmen to hold em and load em. Servo skulls, otoh, are independant wee doohickeys which are not integral to any other mini. They also, coincidentally, do levitate, unlike IG heavy weapons :)

Clears up things bit. I guess a model with any kind of entourage would be a unit.

Can an entry be part of an other entry?

Could a tactical marine Sargent be put in a unit and also be part of a his squad as well be a solo unit.

you just love making my life difficult, dontcha? :D

Ruling: No, you cannot enter a given model twice. If the aforementioned sergeant is entered as a single mini you need to paint another sergeant as part of the unit, or, just enter a 4 man tac marine squad, as there's no need to follow codex rules for unit size. 3-10 models for a unit, as stated in the competition rules. No need for sergeants or banners or what have you.

It does look like he's making it extra complicated for nothing lol
Me I'm bringing a single mini (secret project) a vanguard squad and a dread that all I have time to make. Whish I had time to bring them up to contest standard but I think it they will most probably be at the same lvl as my clients minis! Aaaa if I don't win 1 first place lol I'm cancelling my trip to Chicago for the golden demon lol Hihihihi
Which my revenant Titan was finished

Don't worry about old' badruckio :) he's actually a nice guy who I've known for years irl. He just likes to ask silly questions from time to time :)

Glad to hear you're keeping your entry simple, and dont fret about quality. Do what you can, and see how it goes. 'tis just a hobby, after all :) also bear in mind that (as per the rules) you can only win in one category. This is just to spread the prize-winning around a bit and keep folks interested.

Note: @badruck - if you were doing eg an inquisitor with servo skull, it would be ok to have the inquisitor on a slightly larger base with the skull as a base-enhancing decoration. Try not to think in terms of "this is a separate unit with separate stats in 40k". A mini with a servo skull as decoration is still just a single mini. But, you're dead right to ask and make sure.

Yeah I know one gold trophy and if someone wins both or 3 categories he will get the 2nd place for the other categories! Sounds fair to me!

Just a hobby? Lol it's a business for me lol! It was a hobby but that was 7years ago. Now it's almost a full time thing. I paint about 5hours a day everyday lol.

Anyway! I'll do my best with the time I have lol
