Ladies and Gentlemen and androgynous killer androids of all ages, I am happy to announce that NH:2014 is a GO!

NH:2014 is booked for Friday the 2nd of May and Saturday the 3rd of May.
Please note that the Friday is NOT a public holiday. For those of you with jobs, you have 6 months to put in a holiday request, pull a sickie or fake your own death. It is in the middle of Golden Week though, so you may be ok. These were the ONLY two days available, so I apologise if anyone feels left out because of the schedule.

Entrance fees will be the same as previous years. 2500 yen for 1 day, 4500 for both. A 500 yen discount if you bring along a player who is not currently a part of the NagoyaHammer forum/hasn't attended NagoyaHammer before.

The venue information and accommodation info can be found here: http://www.nagoyahammer.com/forum/viewt ... ?f=3&t=689

Details of the event will be posted shortly.

I look forward to seeing you all there.
P.

I can't take holidays during class time. Ever. If it's not a public holiday, it's class time.

Dammit :(

I was really looking forward to seeing everyone :( The gaming is fun and all, but the overnight/booze session is pretty much the highlight of my social calendar for the year (yeah, I know...). Consider me Mr. Glum for a while :(

*I will attempt the impossible and try to negotiate a day off on the Friday. I don't see it happening, but while most of me feels crushed, there's a wee voice in there shouting "Ye can tak oor freedumm, but ye'll ne'er tak oor...NAGHAMMER!!!!"

*edit* just to be clear - I'm not griping at Prim here. I have no doubt you'd have much rather held it on 2 public days off. I am simply railing against the cruel twist of fate that has denied me my yearly dose of geekery. *shakes fist at the heavens* Damn you, Salazar!!!!!!!

Don't you get Golden Week off?

@M_i_J - That does seem rather draconian. Golden Week starts a couple of days before on the 29th. Maybe you could negotiate a trade if they wont give you an actual holiday. E.g. a Sunday for the Friday kinda dealy. I totally disagree with your employer's policy by the way. Good luck.

@both - sadly, it doesn't work like that. The schej for next school year won't be finalised till April 1st next year, but for GW I can guarantee it will run thus:

Monday 28th: full day of classes, club as normal
Tuesday 29th: no classes. Clubs running all day. (I will be off)
Wed, Thu, Fri: full day of classes, club as usual.
Sat, Sun, Mon, Tue: no classes. Clubs running all day. I will be off.
Wed~: full classes as normal

In my school, public holidays are treated as an inconvenience. I can ask the other English teachers to cover my classes on the Friday, but basically I'll be dumping extra work on people who already work 11 hour days so I can go play with plastic models. It's generally acceptable to do such a thing for a special family event (eg kids school sports day) but the idea of doing it for oneself will get me some serious evil eye. Assuming I can get their OK (which I might, because at the end of the day they're decent folks) I have to apply to the vice principal and the principal for permission to be absent from school on a contracted day.

So. There are the hoops. I shall get my jumping shoes on...

@ MiJ: time to create a fictional doting aunt in law. You've got 8 plus months to bring baked cookies and omiyage to work that this woman has been giving to your family. Have her pass away in un(timely) fashion in late May with an unavoidable funeral on coincidently the very Friday in question.

If your boss denies you in your grief, then you will have (un)proof of them being "bad bosses" and can righteously rage.

I am also announcing shamelessly that I am worth 500 yen off! :D

I'm a d--- and calling the use of "/" as you usually meaning "or".

So it reads:
A 500 yen discount if you bring along a player who is not currently a part of the NagoyaHammer forum or hasn't attended NagoyaHammer before.
:D Starting the cheese months in advance. :D

I had a thought: it would very much depend on whether or not the Friday is a problem for people, but if it was, what would the likelihood be of shifting the 40k event to day 2? I still haven't confirmed either way whether or not I can make both days, but I can see the Friday being an immovable barrier to some. Changing the main draw to the Saturday might encourage more 1 day attendees?

Just a thought :)

*edit* this was inspired by ashmie's suggestion of shifting the izakaya to the Saturday night, as we would all safely have Sunday off. Again, it'd depend on the number of folks for whom Friday was a problem.

I'm easy with it either way, but I'd like to hear what others have to say before making a decision.
