NH17 - Warhammer 40,000

A while back I asked people about how they felt about playing a full day of 40K. As can be expected, I got back a lot of different answers about what people want (and what they don't). I have read all the comments and decided to try something a little different this year.
40K - The Main Event
The overwhelming vote was to keep a full day for regular games of 40K, so that is what is going to happen.
Games will be played at the 1000 point level, though players should also prepare a 500 point list. Depending on attendance and other considerations (see below), players may need to team up.
-Army Building
1000 points or 500 points.
Players MUST use the most up to date codex/entry for their models. (Books printed after April 1st 2017 may be ignored).
Players MAY use any appropriate GW Codex or Imperial Armour books.
Players MUST take 1 detachment OR formation.
Players MAY take a second detachment OR a formation.
Players may NOT take super detachments (A detachment made of formations) e.g. Necron Decurion, Marine Gladius. I doubt you could fit one in at 1000 points anyway.
If in doubt, ask.
You will use the same army all day.
Please remember, this is not a tournament, it's a chance to meet friends and have fun. Bringing an all-powerful, crush-your-opponent, table-them-on-turn-1 style army is strictly frowned upon. Bring an army you would be happy to see across the table from you.
-Teams
If you team up with another player, you will count as Allies of Convenience, regardless of the Allies charts.
You will use your own Warlord traits.
The most expensive Warlord counts for Slay the Warlord bonuses. (Roll a die if tied).
Objectives scored count for both players.
Final scores will be the same for both players.
-Missions
These will be announced later once I have had time to go over them.
-Time limit
Games will run for 2 hours and 30 minutes. An extra 15 minutes is available to finish off Player 2's turn if necessary.
The FULL 40K
As some of you may know, enthusiasm for 40K has been lacking a bit these last couple of years for a number of reasons. However, I still believe that the 40K setting is one of the most interesting SF settings around.
So this year we're aiming for the FULL 40K. Not just the main game, but all of the other bits and pieces that fit in with that. Players will be able to trade out a game of 40K to try another game. Depending on attendance and demand, players will be able to switch out a couple of games. Players who do NOT wish to play 40K should say so and may play a mix of other games.
All games will be on a first come, first served basis. Where there is more than one choice available, players should state EXACTLY which time slot they prefer, Morning, Afternoon or Evening. This will allow everyone to organise their schedule. If you have no real preference, please just make a choice and stick to it!
I have spoken to a couple of people and have some tentative volunteers. Tables will be set aside for players to have a shot at:
Epic - Hosted by The Other Dave
GorkaMorka - Hosted by Konrad
And
In The Emperor's Name - Hosted by Primarch
There may be other options as well depending on schedules and availability.
If you have an army/gang/force for a particular game, please talk to the host about using it. For campaign games where forces get stronger, bringing a veteran gang may be unbalancing.
Ooh, ooh, I want to run a game!
Sure. So long as it is 40K themed, we can give it a whirl.
The guidelines are as follows.
You MUST understand the rules and be able to introduce/explain them to a completely new player quickly and easily.
The game can take no more than 2 hours 45 minutes, to allow players to switch to other games.
You should be able to provide two forces (I can maybe help out with minis if given enough notice), terrain and dice for the game.
PM me first to discuss the idea.
You can run your game for 1, 2 or even all 3 slots if you want. It depends how much you want to play the other games. No campaign games though. This is your opportunity to recruit players by introducing the game to rookies rather than a chance for 2 or 3 people to go play by themselves all day.
