Re: The icing on the cake...
I remember a lad that got me back into buying models at the local GW was later fired and the reason they gave him was they were making cuts so they could afford the LOTR copyright for another 5 years. Doh!
Forget about yesterday, don't worry about tomorrow because all that matters is today.

I honestly believe that when someone explained economics to Mr. Kirby he didn't really get the supply part, but thought that the demand bit was awesome.

At one of the Q and A sessions with the WD staff, someone in the audience, a veteran gamer, raised the issue of pricing and how it was driving him out of the hobby.
Paul Sawyer's response? "Maybe you are in the wrong hobby."

Compare the price of GW to playing Golf in Japan and GW doesnt seem that bad.Spevna wrote:At one of the Q and A sessions with the WD staff, someone in the audience, a veteran gamer, raised the issue of pricing and how it was driving him out of the hobby.

Golf courses dont refuse to let you play with another company's golf clubs though.
Neither do they change the rules to make some of your clubs outdated and require you to buy twice as many.
I dont believe that they fix the rules so that players with newer balls win.
I haven't heard of them removing all the grass and replacing it with a synthetic plastic substitute then increasing the course fees to pay for trimming the new grass.
But on prices, golf in Japan is a seriously expensive hobby.

Whilst GW's prices are high for this hobby, they are not the issue I have with them.
Incidentally, Mr. Sawyer now works for Warlord and seems like a decent, honest bloke who is always willing to answer questions on their forums.

meh, I have a lot of sympathy for folks who have to toe the company line. A paycheck's a paycheck. Dude's gotta eat. If he says the wrong thing, especially at a public event, he's bollixed. He wasn't being a c*nt, he was just being not bloody stupid. That just leads me to believe that working for GW can make a c*nt out of the nicest of people
