Waterloo 2015

Yesterday was the 198th anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo. All of you BP players knew that of course?
Anyways, it did give me a good/crazy idea.
Who would be up for going to the 200th anniversary in 2015. There are sure to be some sort of 'celebration', re-enactors etc etc. I'm also sure there will be various tours (I.e. Geek-nation) offering packages.
One bonus/problem is that being in June, ticket prices might actually be reasonable however the ALTs amongst us might find it hard to get time off.
So who is (very tentatively) keen? Who will stand with me on Mt. St.. Jean ridge, like a brave Belgian-nassauer, and who will cower on the back slope like a cowardly Brit?

Funnily enough, I have already mentioned this to my wife. She looked at me like I was crazy, but it is something I would love to do.

Hmmm... Interesting.
It might be possible if I extend the trip into a tour of Brussels for the wife.
It certainly is crazy and takes wargaming to another level.

I'd be interested too, my only unknown is that my current assignment will end in April 2015 so don't know if i'll be in Japan or elsewhere.

It would be amazing mate.

I'd be concerned that I'd want to join in with the reenactment
Seriously worth looking into the cost and budget for such a trip.

Just thought you'd like to know Geek Nation tours are already working on a tour for next year.
I have already pre-registered (no money down, no firm commitment) my interest.
Check it out here:

I'll have to see how much it costs. The tour of Sekigahara costs 350,000 yen for 11 days to visit free sites. Assuming a similar price and the cost of air fairs to Europe, you're probably looking at near to 500,000 yen. That is way outside my price range, even if I weren't planning to buy a house this year.

It's a nice, romantic idea to attend in 2015, but the thing is, even though you go on the 200th anniversary, there isn't going to be, you know, a battle or anything. I doubt any ghostly regiments will turn up in celebration. And it will look like the same landscape. But you'll be quite a bit out of pocket.
If I'm ever in Belgium though, why not?
I say all the above, but yeah, it still sounds pretty great, and I would if I could.

If I'm based in the UK next year then I would be up for going. It's 50/50 really.
A cheaper alternative for a celebration for BP players would be to recreate the battle of Waterloo in 28mm. Specially for the anniversary in 2015. I'm due to buy some Prussians from Job which would give me 7 or 8 big units. I'd be happy to paint towards this goal if folks were up for it.
Given my track record for attendance and that my Prussians have the unreliable rule I'd be happy to host the venue or put money down beforehand to confirm my attendance. Of course I'd clear it with my wife long in advance. What say you?

@ Ashmie: I'm not selling them to you. They'll be free as I got them for free and only invested in bases. (If you want you can give me 100-200 yen for the bottoms, but I don't care.) I don't want you having to say you spent anything on them.
(BTW, you'll be doing me a favor as I have way too many minis.)
I actually put this to the wife and she was kind of receptive to the thought. The other week she mentioned she was always interested in the Netherlands, and the the whole area seems to have easy access to 5-6 countries. It would be a great way to see Northern Europe for an American.
Of course, I didn't mention anything about going out and buying a period uniform.
