2014 the year of.....

With the new year closing in like an ork on a red bike eager to smash heads, I figured it'd be interesting to see what everyone is planning on doing. So here is my short list.
the year of less STRESS!!!!!!!! 6 doctors cannot be wrong and my boss cannot be right. Time for a change. My interviews have gone well. Got one more tomorrow and then one of Friday.
the year of the Gods! This is a huge all encompassing goal for me. 1) Menoth and fire to the heathens; painting my Menoth army up. Of course the Old Faith Menoth of Khador will be included as Khador comes storming in. 2) G.O.D. or games operating director as my old rpg group use to call the GM position. While I enjoy Prim's game, I am ready to forge my own stories in either Iron Kingdoms, 40k, or Legend of the Five Rings. 3) God of War: continue my blitzkrieg building against Job and bring his Frenchies to heal. And if Pikey has the nerves, take the Soviets down with 'em. 4) Rebuild my faith. My faith has suffered a lot from all this stress and problems. Get the stress down and get back to what is important.

Plans for 2014:
1) go to uni for a teacher's license qualification. Not so much a resolution as a necessity. Still, defo a target for 2014/2015
2) not buy any minis I don't need. I'll set a nominal limit of half a dozen for the year. My armies are basically done and I have a monstrous backlog. I also have 3 kickstarters worth of minis incoming, so it's not like I'll be lacking for things to paint. I'd say "buy no minis" but you never know what might pop up, and absolutes are made to be broken.
3) Work permitting, enter the golden daemons. I have the minis in hand. I have the plan. I just gotta get ta work and do it. No doubt I'll spend months slaving away over it only to have something completely unavoidable pop up days before I leave

Good for you Colonel. You too M_i_J.
What do I want to do next year...hmmm.
1. Buy some land and build a house.
2. Paint, base and finish 500 minis. I did 450+ this year with no real target, so hopefully having a point to aim for will allow me to keep my motivation up. I have a massive backlog of minis to get through and I need to get some of them finished.
3. Sell off a couple of 40K armies and a Fantasy army. Again, loads of minis sitting around, not being used or worked on. I expect to have more space in my new house, but I do need to trim things down somewhat.

The year I finish my Early War French Army with Voss.
The year I get into Dropship Commander with Dave.

The year I try to set up a small game event.

This next year I aim to:
1. Be doing a new job as of March, since I leave my current one in mid-February. Hopefully with a Sat/Sunday off making gaming easier.
2. Lose a bit of weight and generally get more healthy. I was about 80 kg when I came to Japan and am now about 7kg heavier. With the baby on the way I feel the necessity to be fit and able to tend to its numerous needs and not be dead anytime soon.
3. Start playing guitar again. I used to be a decent player and regret letting it slide. Haven't played much in the last 5 years but I am recently coming across people to jam with again. I really miss it.
4. Avoid buying any more minis. Like MiJ however I reserve the right to break this rule if something incredible comes to my attention. I will try, honest Guv.
5. Make a huge dent in painting the silly number of minis I have accrued. I would like to square away about half of the stuff I have, which conservatively estimating means 2-300 minis. Big Projects include Bolt Action (a few small forces) Pulp minis, 40k (Space Wolves and some IG) Smaller and more doable projects include Dredd, Ronin, Saga, and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang stuff, which may be good since they are mostly a handful of minis each and more realistically achievable. Backburner stuff includes some WFB Beastmen, and small armies for P&S, War of the Roses, Hail Caesar Celts, not sure If they will be getting much love in the coming year.
6. I will actually play more games. We will see, but ideally I want to be playing once a month. I want to look into local venues nearby and possibly run an event.
Of course, whether any of these things can be realised depends on fatherhood. Learning to be a decent Dad of course and being supportive to my wife will be the overriding concern.

Less facebook maybe. More reading books I've bought and painting models I've left unfinished. Generally enjoying the roses a bit more now my sons no longer a baby and getting more fun.
No big plans other than to maintain some regular stability.

Looks like everyone has their to do list well in the hand. The first Star Wars movie was scratched from my list last night. Two more to go. I haven't seen them in well over 10 years. Still great. Next is to finish reading the next book in the game of thrones series dance with dragons which I've had for ages but not read as well as the book "hi, my name is loco and I am a racist by Baye Mcniel. It's about living in japan and truth about this country. Next up is back to studying Portuguese and really put in an effort this winter since my painting craze is done. Miniature wise, like everyone else, don't buy any more. Only one left I want and that's a legion glaive. Absolutely nothing else being bought. Only touching up all the miniatures I have. Still going to run my Hammercide events for 40k and maybe a campaign. And last but certainly foremost, fight for my daughter Raina that has been kidnapped from me by the Archaic Japanese legal system and her mentally evil mother. Two judges and a court appointed psychologist all have said I'm a good father and deserve to see my daughter yet the racist courts still deny me visitation. My demonstrating will go full speed ahead as well as my lawsuits against the schools, police and her mother. Never give up, never give in.
