Amazing writer.

We all knew this was coming, but still surprised at the suddenness.

RIP

I grew up reading Pratchett, and met him twice at signings. He always came across as a really nice bloke. Always a gentleman, despite (presumably) being tired from signing stuff all day. The world is definitely much reduced today.

Like most of the good stuff in life I took him for granted. Only now that he's gone do I realise what a treasure he was. He encouraged my reading when I was in primary school as I'm sure he did for millions like me. In fact him, Tolkien, C.S Lewis, Roald Dahl, Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone pretty much defined my younger years of reading.
His passing reminds me to focus on the good things in life and forget about the bad things we can't always change. :)

I remember reading his earlier stuff and being very impressed by it. His later stuff did seem pretty formulaic, but The Colour of Magic and The Light Fantastic were great. His writing helped push me towards the fantasy genre and was a change of pace from the Tolkein and Lewis I had read previously.

He'll be missed.

Two of the best (the best?) comic/fantasy books ever. He really hit the heights on those ones.

@mij

Didn't know (or forgot) you got to meet him. Cool!

@ashmie

Good perspective. He did a lot of good work for Orangutan conservation which will continue onwards :)
