Hammerers are Metal models. GW took ALL metal models out of ALL the shops (including their own) when they decided to stop selling metal models. (This was back before they announced finecast). Currently if you want to buy any metal model from GW you have to order it from GW Direct. It has nothing to do with them screwing Ikeda san and far more to do with them only selling metals as a specialist service until they can Finecast them all. This started back in April, so its not like it should have been a big suprise for anybody....

Well, I think it still does damage Ikeda's business. He couldn't make over 10,000 yen worth of sales to me and denied a lot more. (Currently the Dwarf collection available to buy are a handful of basic plastic kits and odd "fine" cast stuff.)

He's manning an outpost for GW. It is the far-side of the world, deep in the Heart of Darkness. There isn't a permanent hobby table in many, many miles. He's like a legionaire stationed on the border of the wilds. He's been sent to establish GW gaming here in Nagoya, but instead of full support, it seems he's been shirked of the equipment and goods he needs to do his best. :(

Yellow Submarine, isn't bad, but they don't go as far as Ikeda to promote the game. Ikeda is planning to have a table next door in the future for games.

And Midori-ku? That's like the wilds. Completely inaccessible by car, isn't it?

So the guy who kept saying "dont hate on GW" during the long debate about finecast and their policy changes is now hating on GW?
In all fairness, GW's changes to metal were made before he opened his store. You cant even buy them from an official GW store in a major world city (Tokyo). Heck, if you go to the GW store in Nottingham, just a few miles from GW HQ you cant buy them. It is a bloody stupid policy, but since they aren't producing metals (or at least not in the same quantities), we're stuck with it until they can finecast them and jack up the prices. It's not like they are doing it to 'put the screws' on anyone, it probably hurts their own sales more than anything else.
Ikeda san hasn't been "sent" anywhere. Whilst he stocks GW products he isnt actually a GW employee, he is an independant retailer, the same as every other indie retailer anywhere in the world. He has exactly the same tools and support to run his business that every other indie retailer does. I'm not aware of any products that he cant sell that aren't under the same restrictions in official GW stores. In fact, as an indie retailer, Ikeda san could happily stock non-GW products if he wanted to. FoW, Warmachine and others are all a possibility. GW relies on indie retailers to introduce their products in areas where they have no presence themselves. They certainly dont want to cut them out of their business.
Having never been out to Midori-ku I cant comment on their shop, but YS has been stocking GW products for a lot longer than Ikeda san has been in business and they are open 7 days a week. However, they were mentioned simply because a certain Ork Admiral seemed to be under the impression that GW products were only available in 1 place in Nagoya. I will certainly buy from Ikeda san in preference, YS has more than enough card gamers to fill up their register.

Can you quote me once ever saying "don't hate on GW"? :?:

I'm pretty sure my point was "don't get carried away with it". (People started declaring things like "I'm never going to buy from GW" and "Warmahordes is better!")

No. I've always hated GW. I'm a BF fanboy. :D

And I think your point is mute. Yeah, yeah he isn't a GW employee, but I wouldn't want him to be one. On the other hand, he is definitely doing far more to promote the game then GW is in the Nagoya area. :!:

And my point stands. If GW really relies on indie retailors to promote their games in areas they have no reach, why hamstring the guy with "Direct Order" restrictions? They should be making sure he can provide whatever they have grow the Nagoya following.

And I had to commute over 6-hours, with four transfers and at the cost of over 3,000 yen, each time. It is very exhausting to get up to Seki and back. :(

And you still have to give me a lift from the station to make it all possible. ;)

yep, and people wonder why I don't drive to game more often. between the long drive to the games and the 14,000+ km I drove already for work last term, I don't have much enthusiasm to take the long trek down.
