Hi Grim

Welcome to the boards.
Magic isnt in much demand around these parts sadly. I was about to take my magic cards to a shop and sell them off for some extra pocket money this weekend. I've had them for ages, but I haven't played since....er....for a long time I guess (2003 I think).

Anyway, I hope you can get some games organised through this site.

Ah, Grim, me old bean - glad you could join us, finally.

I must say, that's a particularly dapper lookin' avatar youve got yourself there. The photography is especially skillfully done :P

Aye, well, anyway, you're well enough aware of how the whole shebang works. We're all verra glad to have you aboard, and most of us do have magic cards somewhere around the house. There has also been quite the resurgence of board games and suchlike recently, so youre not gonna be left out in the cold by a long shot. You may even be able to persuade folks to play some BB, if yer lucky. We're having the usual games thing in Joshin this Sunday, and theres a small-games event in Kuwana next month (I cant go - pageant weekend :( ) which might be right up your alley. (steady on, Mike...)

http://www.nagoyahammer.com/forum/viewt ... 4&start=40

anyway - catch ya on the boards :)

ps
My true love and soulmate is Blood Bowl, courtesy of me_in_japan, who got me hooked and then promptly stopped playing as soon as I learned the rules properly ;)
only cos you got me hooked on Magic, and look where that ended up...

besides, you whup my ass at BB whenever we play. Despite the fact that I had a 15 year head start on you, youve easily played more games than me. I dread to think what might happen if you ever started on 40k or similar. We'd be getting leafblowered all over the place...

(ah, a quick explanation: the leafblower is a well known and universally reviled army list for the imperial guard, so named because it blows the opposition away like leaves, and theres very little anybody can do about it.)

Cheers for the welcome, gents.

I won't make Joshin this weekend as I'm already locked into something, but I'll look into the December hootenanny.

@Primarch: If you need the cash or the space, I can't blame you. But if you'd like to give them one last drive, throw a deck or two together.

only cos you got me hooked on Magic, and look where that ended up...
@me_: So if were to subtly scatter cards around different corners of your place the next time I was over, would that incite the wrath of the Lady of the House?

Anyway, I'm staying away from 40K, so no worries about potential leafblowing...for now

The day Grimjaw picks up 40K is the day we have a new Champion I reckon...
Unless no is the answer to my next question.

I play 40k (orks and blood angels), some fantasy (Wood elves and Dwarves) and I mess with a game here and there so I am willing to learn any game as long as it's fun. My schedual is random at best as my Ship can go underway at any time. I look forward to getting my game on when ever the chance happens.
More Daves! Augh! More Orks! Waaaagh!
There was an active group of guys playing 40K\Fantasy in Yokosuka. Is Camp Zama the base there? Post a "hello" on the JIGG board at YahooGroups. JIGG (Japan International Gaming Guild) is another, well the first, gamenerd newsgroup in Japan. It's not as much fun as Nagoyahammer, (naturally......) but it has a wider, more varied membership. Ought to be someone in your area lurking about there.

Hi I am new here to the Tokyo/Fussa area and would like to find a regular gaming group with weekly or at least monthly games. I play 40K/Warhammer and I have at least 7 armies in each game system and a few in Moridhiem, BFG, and the new space hulk.

howdy aldroze - welcome to the forums :)

I thiiiink its fair to say most of us on these boards are based around Aichi(Nagoya)/Mie/Gifu, but its by no means all of us. I know for a fact that Seneschal (a user on these boards) is based in/near Tokyo. He's not on the boards all the time, but if he doesnt respond to this post soonish I daresay you can send him a PM about gaming in the Tokyo area.

Also, Primarch (the admin) is keen to get as many folks as possible to come to events in Nagoya, including people from Tokyo and beyond. Our next one is in January and is called Winter Blitz. It's aimed at non-GW games (e.g. WarmaHordes, Malifaux, etc.) but most of the events he organises are very GW friendly. The next GW based event is the eponymous NagoyaHammer, which is in golden week (May). It'll be a 40k event with a bit of tournament and a bit of casual play. See also here for discussion. Anyway, take a wander through the boards and see what you can see.

-MiJ

ps. No doubt Badruck will be along in a moment to introduce himself and further rack up his post count. Dont worry about him - he's actually very nice and easy to understand in real life :P
