Buying minis in Nagoya?
Buying minis in Nagoya?
Hello All,
I wandered around Kamimaezu and found Joshin Kid's Land - but no miniatures for sale, alas. Nice selection of paints and scenery, though.
I was wondering how you all get hold of minis? The options that I see them so far are:
* order them from GW Japan online. I would need a Japanese speaker and its incredibly expensive compared to UK.
* order them from GW UK. Pros: much cheaper than buying here. Cons: shipping charges and a question...do GW still ship to Japan if you order on the UK site?? (I have read threads which suggest they do not, in order to force ex-pats in Japan to pay twice the price buying from Japanese outlets).
* buy them from e-bay vendors and ask them to ship to Japan?
* buy them from someone on this forum, which leads me back to my first question: where do you guys buy your GW miniatures from?
Any advice much appreciated!

Re: Buying minis in Nagoya?
There are basically two places to go that I know of, other than buying from eBay or GW Japan online.
Town Crier has a little shop across the street and down a half a block from Joshin. It's down a little flight of stairs (next to one of those jelly drink stalls I think), so it's a bit tricky to find. Ikeda-san, the owner, will give you 20% off the retail price on most things. It's only open Friday evening, Saturdays, and Sundays.
There's also a toy store called Meruhen on the Sakuradori subway line that carries some stock. Normal store hours.
For supplies, Volks is about a block away from Joshin and has a better selection of paints and painting supplies, including Vallejo paints.

Thanks for this,
Is Crier down the road in the direction of Kanimaezu Station or Sakae station?

@JKS: Toward Kamimaezu Stn, about halfway between the 7-11 and the Ministop.
@YellowStreak: By Aioiyama Stn. I went a few months ago just to see what they had. I think the inventory and prices were comparable to Ikeda's, but I don't know what their rates and policies for direct ordering are.

The main thing is it is down a small set of stairs and once underground, go straight ahead and past a dog-leg right turn.KJS_1066 wrote:Thanks again, am tempted to head there right now...

Yeah, that's the place.
Good selection of Lego too, if anyone else here is a Lego geek like me.
