December 31st, so long 2015, hello 2016.

Another year is drawing to a close, 365 days of gaming, painting and everyday life have passed.
So, how was your year?

For myself, I moved into a new home, made a fairly significant change in my job, played a bunch of new games and even started writing a game myself.
The work change has had a large impact on my hobby time. While I can spend some time at work assembling minis, my painting time has taken a hit as I no longer have free time during the day. In the evening, my time is split between cooking, housework, watching TV, playing PC games and painting.
My new house and particularly my hobby room give me more space than before, though it appears my collection has spread out to fill all the available space. :D
This year I tried out a few new games, most recently Infinity. Things are getting to the stage where I can't play all the games I want to in the time I have available.
Finally, Hunters of Ruin seems to be going well, if slowly. M_i_J is very kindly proof reading it for me, as it is still pretty rough around the edges. However, since its debut at NagoyaHammer, I have received a lot of positive feedback and constructive criticism.

So that's 2015 for me. Thanks to everyone for a great year!

Which brings me round to 2016. I'm sure there will be a New Year's Resolutions thread along at some stage and I have already outlined some of my painting goals for the next year elsewhere. In the New Year, I want to focus more on painting for myself and getting promised painting out of the way. What do I mean by that? I currently have a bunch of projects underway because I want to support or play certain games with specific people.
The current list is:
Horus Heresy - Kojibear
Saga - Spevna and Lovejoy
Lion Rampant - Lovejoy
AVBCW - Spevna
Warhammer 40K - NagoyaHammer2016

It is these projects that I want to get finished up as soon as possible. That way I can play those games and spend painting time on personal projects. Following through on my promises in the New Year is something of a priority.
On the personal projects front, I have a load of stuff for the Anglo-Zulu War that I want to work on. This year I started on a new project, the 2nd Anglo-Afghan War, which I also want to spend more time on.
Overall, I have a lot to work on and I want to get the projects I promised to other people done and dusted.
Getting some nice terrain done for my table is also on my to do list.

For me, 2016 is going to be a year of getting more things from the 'to do' pile into the 'totally done' pile.

What does 2016 hold for the rest of you fine forumites?

I think, like you say, the name of the game is going to be "focus" this year - I sort of lost some in '15. In my case, that's probably going to be focusing on the game I'm currently working on painting that the largest number of other people play, which would be Bolt Action. Secondary to that will be Dropzone (since, while people play, I've got one force in a "done" state and another near to it) and, when it's released, Dropship Commander, since it's cool space battles. I want to get a few more units of 6mm Napoleonics painted to play with Mike, but at my current painting painting pace I think those projects will keep me plenty busy.

For the coming year, I've got a few things simmering.

1. Dredd.

I want to get two more gangs painted for this, a load of East Meg judges, and small group of sky-surfers.

2. Saga.

This is almost done. I need to get two or three more units done for it before I have a complete Celt army.

3. WHFB.

The plan here is to get a Celt/Slaine themed chaos army done. I'm also aiming for this to be usable for an fantasy rules out there.

4. Bolt Action.

I've got a full painted army of winter Germans done, but I've got about another 50 guys and 2 tanks to add to that.

5, AVBCW.

I want to get a small army of British fascists done for this. Nothing massive, just a small themed force.

6. Frostgrave.

The gang is painted, just need to get them on the table!

7. Ronin.

I'm painting up a small group of Orc/goblin bandits ( or Mongols ). They will use human stats, but the minis are too nice to not use.

8. WH40K

I have a few squads of Beakies, and a few orks left to do.

On a non gaming note, I'll have a lot of work to do for the Kickstarter for the next couple of months. I'm also going to Thailand in August, and then I'll be going home to England for the first time in 11 years.
That's pretty much my plan for 2016.

Edit! Totally forgot about Antares! I shall be finishing off that army pretty soon and getting some games in ASAP!

plans for 2016...

life stuff: stop working and be a full time at-home dad. Fairly major one, that. Bit nervous, but also keen to grip it firmly by the husk, as it were...

hobby stuff:
dredd
paint a few more girls for my gang.
infinity
paint the PanO from the starter box. Actually play a proper game (as opposed to a demo one)
dredd and infinity
finish up all that mdf terrain I've got on my hobby table, plus make an actual board for them to sit on.
dropfleet commander
open box. play game. paint stuff.
40k
finish 500pts worth of SSP, more if possible.
finish my corsairs? So near, and yet, so unfinished.
oh, and get the rules for my corsairs, too :)
Hunters of Ruin
play some more of this, maybe paint up a warband.
Malifaux
Paint another Mali crew. Either Ramos or Lynch, whichever tickles my fancy.
Malifaux and Warmachine
Make more terrain for these, and a swamp-town table for them to sit on.

I'm also getting the warmachine tingle again. I emptied out my warmachine bag the other day to fill it up with dredd/infini stuff for some games in nagoya, and i was reminded how much I like Cryx. Must paint some more of those guys soon.

So, um, yeah. Not a very focussed year ahead, it seems. Meh, I shall see where fate takes me. As long as I'm painting I'll be happy :)

On the plus side, there is currently nothing mini-related that I want to buy. Nothing. You never know - it may stay this way all year :)

DropfleetCommander: (post-June)

Spending
Keep within bounds. Try to avoid buying anything without having painted up some things in my collection.

Study more Japanese. Finish reading Wagahai ha Neko de Aru. Maybe take the JLPT 3 test.

Get a Driver's License in Japan.

Find time to hike a bit, hopefully the Kumano Kodo.

Yeah, '15 was a derailing year to say the least. Big change moving to Mie.

For '16:

Infinity: paint, play and demo. also got roped into doing a blog online with this so the pressure is on.

Hordes: Trolls paint and play

Beyond that, I'll try to paint up what I have.

Other things;

Get caught up on taxes and health insurance. My last job really screwed me over with their stunt.

New car or time to take the train. My current one is about to start nickle and dimeing me to death.

For me it was the worse year on record so I have just two resolutions for 2016.

One is to enjoy life again and the other is to quit smoking. :)
