Yellow Submarine, sunk and gone
Yellow Submarine, sunk and gone
I thought I should post this as a notice. I went up to the Yellow Submarine near Sakae Tokyu Hands today, and it was no more. Apparently they closed shop and left. Have they moved or just boarded up here in Nagoya, I don't know, but if you still happened to use the shop for this or that, they are now gone.
Update: Or rather they moved to the Osu area.

Same thing happened to me.
Their Nagoya store doesn't seem to carry any more GW products, though. I guess Town Crier put them out of business. But they do have a pretty good board game selection.

Actually, it appears it's now in Osu, almost in the middle of the arcade by the look of things. Maybe they are going after Ikeda-san, or more likely, have moved from their high rent spot in Sakae to, I assume, a cheaper spot closer to their customer base.

Re: Yellow Submarine, sunk and gone
They moved about 6 months ago, maybe more. I thought this had been posted up before, but I guess not.
Having been to their new store they don't appear to have any GW stuff on sale, just board games, card games and a few RPGs. Even before Town Crier opened they kept very little GW stock, usually just the latest releases. After a few months those were put on sale as they had a hard time selling them. Honestly, I think GWs high RRP and a lack of interest from the shop made them stop carrying Warhammer as much as Ikeda san.
Anyway, their new store is about 2 mins from Joshin. Go out of Joshin and straight across the street. Go one block back from the main road and take the first right. YS is on the 6th ??? floor of the building on your left, accessible through a small side door.

No my dooooooolllllllsssss!
My beautiful cheap plastic spooky dolls have gone! All those wonderful posing injection molds in scantily clad costumes and compromising positions! Whatever shall I do now?
What's that? moved you say? Oh ok then, no problem.
Thanks I nearly went there the other day, good to know. That was a joke about the dolls by the way. Or was it?
Speaking of things spooky there is a teacher at my Jhs who thinks its ok to put a massive zoomed up poster of an Akb girl next to his desk. He's in his 40s. It's been up a week. I'm thinking of putting an Admiral Akbar poster up for balance of weirdness.

Forget about yesterday, don't worry about tomorrow because all that matters is today.

For the *real* spooky doll shop, go to Volks (just north of Kids Land, same side of the street, above the barber shop with the funky sign). On the one hand, they have Vallejo paints, but on the other hand, they have... World War 2 fighter planes... anthropomorphized as girls with dog ears and a tail... in sailor uniforms?ashmie wrote:No my dooooooolllllllsssss!

Re: Yellow Submarine, sunk and gone
The mindset that would think of creating, let along collecting, something like that, is so alien to me as to be a bit spooky.me_in_japan wrote:That's not spooky. That's just...well, words fail me, actually. S'not spooky, though

Seriously, the Volks website is a treasure trove of Stuff Your Wife Would Look At You Funny If You Bought It. Plus cool military model kits and robots.

Re: Yellow Submarine, sunk and gone
Volks do sell spooky dolls though, in their super-realistic, bride of chucky dolls section. Those things are seriously creepy. The one above isnt spooky, but I would have my doubts about the person who bought it.
