Shopping Trip

Post by YellowStreak » Wed Sep 25, 2024 2:15 am

I'm going to Tokyo on Saturday and planinng to visit the Warhammer Cafe. Apparently they have the reprinted copies of the old school Realm of Chaos books from the Rogue Trader days (they only sell them at Warhammer World and Warhammer cafes in Texas and Tokyo). I'm planning on buying a copy of each, if anyone is keen I can pick up copies for you. I don't know the price offhand.

natsukashiiii. I will pass but there was so much silly, grody, fun in those. And full of my favorite things, endless d66 charts!

There was a "Make your own chaos power/demon prince miniature challenge some years back in "28" mag. I found a pdf and rolled up what started with an ork and ended up with something like, "giant/twin/emaciated/obese/two-handed club/daemon weapon sword" or something. Couldn't have been more perfect. A hungry/satiated Gork and Mork, Krog and Krom the Ork gods of hunger and feasting.

I picked those books up a while ago in Akihabara even though I never had them back in the day, just knew them for decades by their reputation. And they're great! Really surprising how much of the lore is coming in there that isn't in Rogue Trader.

I also ended up grabbing the Rogue Trader reprint last time so I have one to paw through. I have an old copy somewhere but time is not kind to the binding of that book.

I had slaves to darkness and RT way back in the day. I picked up the RT book a little while back, looking forward to getting these!

I remember! Those bindings disintegrated in like a month.

On the topic of old-skewl GW, anyone who doesn't follow yet, Mustapha Bekir https://www.instagram.com/spevna_studio/ His illustrations are getting really really good. I haven't seen Mus in years. Wait...did he make it up for Naghammer? I think we actually played RT 40K last time we got together.

Nah, Mus hasn't been to naghammer for years. I was talking with him the other day and he says he's super busy just now with teaching/drawing, but in a good way. His art is certainly worth checking out, though, for those who aren't familiar with it, and he's always active on Facebook oldhammer groups.

Also, fwiw, I still have my old, paperback rogue trader book. I don't think I ever owned tLatD or StD, but I certainly read both of them (and the whfrp book) many times as a young un back in the day.
