Is a veteran IG force worthwhile/viable?

A Vendetta Gun ship is 130 points 3 x the cost of a Drop pod 3 of these will cost 390 points that is a huge chunk of points not to mention the price of on from GW Japan or FW the have a lot of fire Power. but are they really going to be that good I think they will be ok but like I said before it is more about the look and theme of the Army for me... Vets are good but I guess normal Guard units might be a little more cost effective... The I would like to take some kind of Sniper teams as well... need to read more of the codex... I will not be taking any tanks...in this army.. I will collect a few tanks as time goes on... but the army I am planing is strictly a theme army until I get it done... then an only then will I add tanks...

I'm all for theme armies. A helicopter air-cav army would be great. You have to convert em up to look like the commandos from "Predator" though

besides, a one-trick pony like that's only gonna work once, then you kick its ass every game thereafter. So, aye, Rob, get your air-cav army

I if it works once against everyone that I play 40k with then that is good enough for me... thats like 10 games plus tournaments against a few guys I do not know should work very well.. for about a year then it can take a break and show up every so often.... sound like a solid plan to me...
