I actually kind of like the forge fiend - it recalls some of the crazy-go-nuts daemon engines of days past.

Agreeing wholeheartedly that the red backlighting is not a great way to show off miniatures, though.

@dan - I quite agree - legion specific troops marketed as generic chaos would be rubbish. But that seems to be what theyre doing. The night lord looking chaps here look so night lordy it'd be hard to play them as anything else. If the kit has more options for generic CSM parts then that's ok, but it does seem like they've sidelined the faction aspect of chaos for a more "they all look like this" approach. Here's hoping for enough optional parts to convert a squad into a legion of one's choice. Maybe even as a separate box - a big box of legion bits on a plastic sprue. That'd be cool.

There is still a possibility for a proper cultist set as well as a proper Hellbrute. Plus noise marines etc in plastic.

@MIJ: Well, I can`t imagine those lightning claws being the only arm bitz in the box...maybe there will be different heads, weapons, etc. Or, possibly they`ll keep the Finecast Raptors as "Chaos Assault Marines" and use this new box as an official Night Lords Cult. If Night Lords get to use these guys as Troops choices, that`d be awesome (but then my Blood Angels and Night Lords armies would look quite similar).

I`m also hoping for a plastic Cultist box with more bitz. The DV cultists are awesome for bulking out to 30 dudes in your squad...but I`m sure we`ll want to make our own "seargeants" with certain weapon loadouts. I have a feeling that the guy (from the DV box) carrying a sword and a shotgun will be used as a normal "trooper". If certain rumors are true, the Cultist "sergeant" will be able to take a power weapon in the codex, so I want to build that miniature.

I use a lot of walkers in my Chaos army (two FW Dreads, a Defiler, and a FW Greater Brass Scorpion when the battles get big enough), so these new entries have some appeal...maybe if we get some better pics in the not-to-distant future.

Forge Fiend: This is supposedly a shooty walker. Pic doesn't look very exciting IMHO

Warp Fiend: The fighty varianet. This'll be a 'dual' kit with the above. This looks more interesting.

Flyer: I think it looks quite cool, going by the tiny, unclear pic. At least it's a bit different. The FW Hellblade(?) is awful. This, at least, is unlike anything else out there.

Raptors/Assault Marines: They look quite cool and if the scuttlebutt is correct should be a dual kit too. We'll have to wait and see though.

As for them being not very Nurgly, too night-lordy etc, I think a good paint job and/or a raid on your bitz box will soon see to that. (Yes, even Nurgle). :D

I can't wait actually to see what other toys there will be. I'm particularly keen to see the rumored new Land Raider variant.

If that Angron isn't a conversion/diorama, then loyalist forces are in for a world of hurt. I suspect by his vaguely human appearance that this is from the FW HH book rather than the Codex. Either way, Fulgrim next please!

Alternate version of the Raptors look good too.

Warp fiend looks better in this pic.

Forge Fiend still meh.

Dark Apostle looks cool, like he might actually be, ya know, praying/exalting his troops/calling on the Dark Gods.

Dragon DOES look good.

What say you savages?

The regular marines look ok. The new daemon engines are alright I suppose. Those new obliterators look dumb. Personally I think they should stop painting things in Iron Warriors colours. They look less like the disciples of the dark gods and more like warning signs at some road works.

But the Angron model looks awesome. Releasing CSM and HH together is like deciding to open your movie aimed at kids at the same time as Harry Potter. Sorry CSM, you are about 10,000 years to late to really catch my interest.
