I pretty much feel what everyone else has already said. My position is probably best summed up by "neutrally curious". In the past 6 months GW have done more to make me feel positive about them than in the previous 6 years (basically everything Spev listed in his post), but as Stu so wisely points out, said things were done for profit making reasons. Still, if 8th ed manages to "streamline" 40k then I'm willing to give them props for that. As long as rules are available free (by means fair or foul) it doesn't really affect me that much. When I play 40k, I do so for fun, so remembering rules etc is secondary to having a good game. I'm willing to read a new ruleset and do my best to muddle along with it, as long as my opponent is willing to forgive any mistakes I make. It's not like I or my opponent ever made use of all the available supplements anyway. As long as we both play to the same base rulebook then we can have a fun game. That's good enough for me.

I'm not holding out much hope for 8th.

We had a big discussion at NagoyaHammer this year about 40K and the future of the game and NagoyaHammer itself.
In The Emperor's Namae Hammer? :?: I still love 40K warts, bloat, I go you go, and all. (I like I-go-you-go! Feels cinematic, like my turn is my big scene.) But yeah, very little hope they make anything I'll end up playing more than a couple times a year, much less shell out what they'll be asking for the rules.

Edit: Oh my mistake, I meant to say they'll spread them all over the place

And therein lies the problem for me. As it exists now, I actually don't like the game.
