Do I need tanks to win games in 5th ed?

never used tanks to win with space wolves or guard never had any issue winning or making it to the other side of the field. 6 to move d6 more get assualted counter movement win combat first round d6 more thats alot of movement in one round. mostly i try to wipe out the other player and win that way so i don't have to worry about holding my ground. in a 1500 point game you may see me field well over 200 guardsmen or 80 marines or more.
now when i play dark eldar......diff story.

Wow this is an old thread. I guess the better question would be will I need tanks to win in 6th ed
