when I say "you" I mean "one", of course. i wasnt talking about you specifically. I was speaking from personal experience, actually. Im never 100% happy with how my minis turn out.

And yet you netted the majority of the votes for the NagoyaHammer painting event this year....
I guess perfection is in the eye of the creator. Or somesuch twaddle.

just cos I'm (apparently, based on NagHammer votes) a better painter than the other folks here, doesnt mean that I can paint as well as I want to.

And for the record, I reckon there are several folks on this forum who could top my painting, its just I dont think any of them have ever sat down and spent months on a single mini. I for one would very much like to see what they could produce, given the time and motivation.

Fair enough, I guess that there is always room for improvement. The Golden Daemons just keep getting better year on year.

I think that most of the armies I see are very well done, but most of us here in Japan are gamers/collecters first and painters second. That said, there are some very very talented Japanese painters and modellers out there.

I think m_i_j has hit the nail on the head with this. When I compare my rank and file stuff with his I don't think there is much difference, if any, in ability. We have different style but equally good. Where m_i_j comes into his own is with his "special minis" like Lion and Corax. Know what makes them so good? Patience and study. He is willing to sit/read through tutorials, apply what he has seen/read, and persevere at improving those newly acquired skills.
