As for the Why of Gazzy... he is just really really good... there is not much to say extra WAAAGGH is nice and he is a hell of a killing machine in his own right... Model is just so so IMHO... that is one of the reasons I have not picked on up yet...

My interweb was down for a couple of weeks. Back now and looking for ork advice.
In da interim I played a few games with the greenskins to try out 40k more. I think I've got a reasonably balanced list as far as orks have balance, nothing unexpected in there. Space marines and Necrons have been a good healthy and do-able challenge, but I came unstuck with Egor (Russian guy from Kyoto's) tyrannids on Sunday. I tend to take the things I like, but that approach doesn't necessarily give you the answers. It didn't in this case.
I took 2 trukks with 12 slugga boys in each, 12 more slugga on foot, 30 shoota, warboss, 11 lootah, SAG, 5 deffkoptah. 1 nob in each unit with obligatory pk. None of it really did a great deal, everything was just slowly taken apart. Bad rolls, some iffy but not terrible tactical decisions on my part, basically my opponent just moved things forward that was that.
The momma nid with 6 wounds who regularly poohs out new nasties in particular made my very insides turn grey.
Any advice, Mr Badruck? Or anyone else for that matter? How do people handle them?
Should i stop pussy footing around and break out the nobs?
That was quite articulate for an ork. Innit.

hum. The baby-pooing nid is a right bugger and no mistake. One thing to watch with nids is that several of them lack in the armour/toughness department. not all of them by any means, but some of them. surprisingly big ones, too, at times. You can sneak in the occasional instant-death kill if youre lucky. Canny mind if it works against the baby-pooper, though.

The ork approach that works best against me is "take as many boyz as you can, stick em in trukks and move as fast as you can at the enemy." However, im not sure how thatd work against nids. Most folks' tactics against nids revolve around shooting em. While orks' BS is crap, they can churn out a surprising number of shots per round. I'd suggest either trying to outswarm them, or pile in as many big shooty guns as you can muster and see how that goes. I should point out that as an eldar player i habitually build specific lists for specific opponents. If you dont agree with this (and many dont) then feel free to ignore my ideas :)

Da Buggeye...
I have yet to take the Mean Green on the WWAAARGH path against them... MIJ is right you need to shoot them TankBusta Boyz would bee good choice me thinks... Deff Kooptaz with Rocket Lanchaz... could be good too... I also thin that Burna Bozy might be good... I could see them working very well... but I guess I will have to fight them before I can give any real advice... when I took them on with My Beekyz I ganged up on the big ones... and tried to avoid the small ones...Necrons held there own in Combat with them I am not sure if that was good luck or the nids were just not as good as the hype... that said the my games with necrons have all timed out.. not even one has gone 5 turns... I really wanted to take them on with my Tau but I never got the chance...

As for NOBZ V Buggeye I guess they would not be that good... low Initiative is the problem... give them all Scorcha Kombi shootaz and you could be OrkyOrky... I think a Deffrolla would be good

Thanks lads, some interesting points to chew on.
One problem is I don't really know the tyrannid codex at all, learning my own is enough of a pain. I'll have to learn to differentiate between the types of nid unit for next time. They all look the same to me though, at the risk of sounding like somekind of space-racist. Coming here, taking our jobs.

Yeah, the low ork initiative, come to think of it, was a major problem. I got into combat quickly - all very well having 4 attacks from your charging sluggas, but you have to have models to fight back with once the opponent has gone first. Because i was using only 12 strong trukk mobs i didn't, and it was impossible to get 2 units of 12 onto one of his all the time as the game played out. I wiped out one or two fo his units and they just came back, courtesy of the aforementioned baby-defecating creature. It felt like the one main strength of the orks, cc, was pretty much negated in this battle.
Maybe I'll try 2 x 30 strong units of shootahs next time (proxy the 30 slugga as shoota), on foot with KFF or something...
I'm sure there are ways. I dont have the models to field more shooty things than I mentioned, so I am thinking deffrolla BW, nobs, dk rokkits for starters.
