Mandrakes and Hellions look cool, but that ravager looks like it is completely static with robots for crew and not zipping up and down and around with murderous, twisted eldar at the wheel like it should.
It's easy to die in the swamp. What's hard is to staying dead.

I thought that at first, but decided it's really hard to say with the straight side-on photo. I'm holding my judgment till we see some better pictures.Colonel Voss wrote:Mandrakes and Hellions look cool, but that ravager looks like it is completely static with robots for crew and not zipping up and down and around with murderous, twisted eldar at the wheel like it should.

Re: Things just got official people
In order:
urien: good lor' That syringe is going to be a right tricksy one to cast more than once. Other than that, ace!
Mandrakes: Wow. Want. Just like they looked in my head.
Ravager: hum. maybe. wait and see.
Helion: hum. not that impressed. Not terrible, but not up to the wow standard of other sculpts in the line. Probly quite convertable.
rules:
Lelith *deep breath* Broooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooken!!!!!!!!! *wait for echo to rebound off canyon walls...
Raiders, Reavers n whatnot: argh. faster than eldar. but...wait a minute! thats ok! because their armour is less than eldar's right? Everything balances, right? ......right...?
incubi: Better than any aspect warrior, but did I ever expect any different? If I suddenly said "can banshees be strength 4" everyone would be screaming bloody murder, but its ok if its in a new codex...
Doushiyou. I really, really like some of those models. Frankly, I dont care about the rules. I would really like to get some of em for painting purposes, but then I dislike buying a bunch of stuff and not gaming with it. Which leads me into bandwagon territory. That, and the fact I dont have enough time to play with the two armies I have now...
Oh deary, deary me.
Anybody want to buy some Tau?

err... not right now. Maybe later.me_in_japan wrote:Anybody want to buy some Tau?
The Ravager was probably a straight up "lets get this assembled and painted so as to show off all the detail" kind of job. Expect conversions using the Raider kit. Likewise, the Hellion. Mix in some of those witchy parts and it'll look right good and proper.

I see Rakarth has been taking fashion tips from Fabius Bile.
Re: Things just got official people
According to the new fluff, Bile got his dress sense (and all his best sugical techniques) from Rakarth.....Seneschal wrote:I see Rakarth has been taking fashion tips from Fabius Bile.

Warseer have a long thread about the new Dark Eldar Rules and Stats. Dont read it if you dont like reading spoilers.

Better pix of the new Hellions

Man, this codex sounds like a bunch of fun to play with. Strong in some areas i.e. Close Combat and Mobility but with some weaknesses i.e. poor armour and toughness. Shouldn't that be the way for all codicies?

Re: Things just got official people
Ah! I hadn't realized the Hellions were plastic. That will help a lot - the big problem I had with that first picture was the static pose, and a plastic model will help mitigate that a lot.

Most codicies do follow that idea to a point, though some do it more than others.Mike the Pike wrote:Better pix of the new Hellions

Marines - Reasonable at most things, but not very specialised.
IG - Good shooting, poor in assault, low toughness but solid vehicles.
Nids - Fast, sub-par shooting, good assault, vulnerable to shooting for the first few turns.
etc etc.

For those of you who care to look, there are some "previews" of the DE dex kicking around the interweb.
The resolution is iffy, but some details can be made out.
Spoilers
...One thing that is clear is that the Raider isnt as cheap as an AV10 open topped vehicle sounds. With no upgrades it costs almost as much as 2 Rhinos. My fleet of sailboats may be going on the back burner. Still, at least I wont need to spend as much money...
