I reckon coaching and kibbitzing are two different things. Helping out a new guy with rules stuff, sure. Helping out someone who should know better as he falls right into your carefully-laid trap, not so much.

You played how many games with your marines before jumping on the Eldar bandwagon? (Just kidding).
I blame the Black Library authors  - What can I say...I was always an elf at heart! :D

Thanks for the info on the jump packs. Clears it up nicely.

In a run of the mill friendly game coaching is fine and dandy, as long as the player is a noob. If he's an experienced player then he should really be allowed to fall into whatever pit of his own making is coming his way. Might even learn something from it. At a tourney, though - hell no. Coaching or any kind of assistance is bang out of order. Each man (or lady) should stand or fall on their own ability. That is after all the point of a tourney, no? To separate people out according to ability?

Agreed.

True story. Many years ago - before there was Nagoyahammer - we held an yearly event in Hiroshima where mainly Japanese wargamers gathered. In those days, everyone played WFB. Somehow, I got into a game against a young, cute, 20-y.o. girl! (I still don`t know why she was into Warhammer and I`ve never met her since). She was using an Empire army with 4 cannons and two Hellblasters against my woeful Ogres (who, at that time, really sucked, especially against gunlines). She seemed to know the rules but was possibly a bit of noob still. I tell you, it took all of five minutes before EVERY guy at that event - I mean like 20 guys - were gathered around our table giving her all sorts of advice and support so she wouldn`t lose to the big bad "foreigner". It was surreal, wierd, funny and aggrivating all at the same time

Possibly!

Although, when one of her hellblasters got that crazy "misfire" result that causes it to shoot like 30 times (I`ve always hated that rule - how is that a "misfire"?) and she ruined an entire units of Ironguts (like 400 points), everyone - a whole ruoom of people - literally cheered! "Yeaaahhhhh!!!!" I think she liked having that kind of support. I can remember her smiling...although I guess that it could have been one of those smiles of embarrassment.

Dude, it took 5 minutes for every dude to zoom in on the pretty girl so that she might hopefully, possibly, shine that cute, maybe a little embarrassed smile on on them. I doubt your bigness or badness or foreignness had anything to do with it.
Though I'd be aggravated too with all those guys horning in on my action.

A pretty girl who is into mini wargaming? I'd say that she would be a mermaid amongst a school of ravenous hammerheads. There were no girls all those years ago in my gaming group when I was a teenager  No doubt I would have embarrassed myself horribly if there had been.
