Looks like GW has finally got itself in gear and is releasing some VERY long awaited figures for Space Wolves and Tyranids.
First up some dynamically posed wolves.


The long awaited Thunderwolf Cavalry (I wonder how many sales they lost by not having these available on the day of release).



A new Hive Tyrant (this is the 4th version of a Tyrant I believe), complete with the parts to make a Swarm Lord as well.



And the other model that they could have sold millions of, but probably wont now, the Tervigon


And finally the Tyrannofex.

It all looks good. I have to say good thing for those That wait. Best thunder wolves on the market

I like the look of the wolves, although I think a marine on their back is the silliest thing. It doesn't look right and the physical weight of a marine in full armor should snap a wolf's back. Of course they are super-wolves...

Certainly they are late in producing these models, but as the thread title suggests, I agree. But now where are the new models for the unloved factions? Are there any new waves of Chaos Space Marines, Tau, Dark Angels, Eldar and so on? Why can't they issue waves of goods for factions that have dated units so we have something to look forward to between codex releases?

If memory serves, it is something ridiculous like 600lbs. A marine alone is probably close to 400lbs.

Quick search for the weight of an Astarties is 900 -1000 pounds out of armour the armour should not weigh quite as much but must be around 400 -500 pounds including boltpistol and frost blade.

So can an animal of that size hold the weight of an Astarties?

A bull weighs around 2000 - 3000 pounds. They look to be almost the same size as a bull. A bull sized animal would have a hard time. But could still manage.

However. A rhino (the animal not the tank) is 7000 pounds. It would have no problem carrying an Astarties fully loaded.

The funny thing is all of those wolves -the cavalry mounts included - are incredibly small specimens. The background makes mention of Fenrisian wolves growing to the size of rhinos. Whether that means the large grey ungulates or the APC, it means these models are the equivalent of riding Shetland pony foals into battle.

Now if they produced rhino-sized fenrisian wolves I think I wouldn't stop at buying the models.
