Base size for Warboss on warbike?

Just wondering about size for a base. I've just converted a warbuggy I got for free as the basis of a ork warboss on warbike. I had a spare Black Reach warboss and slapped him on it, a gretchin/grot driving the thing. The result so far isn't that bad - it's ended up like a trike/wartrakk hybrid, looks the part.
The only problem is that because of the buggy size, the dimensions are about 5.5cm at the widest point (back axle), and length is about 8.5cm. Is that an acceptable size to play with do you reckon?
It's probably bigger than I would have liked, and the size probably only benefits my opponent really, so I don't see it as a problem...

A warbike should have a bike sized base. If your model is bigger than that because you made it to look cool, then thats fine. You could probably get away with mounting it on one of the larger round bases if you wanted.

the FW War boss is on a base twice as big as a normal bike... I reckon a war buggy would be fine...

Cheers! Thanks for the advice, good to know its something I can field. I will look into the round base idea, but I think its 60mm(?) and that may be a wee bit small. Oh well. It's not big because I intended it to be, but those were the parts available. Wasn't keen on spending 38 quid on the FW mini..

I am really happy with it so far. Looks like the warboss was made to stand on the buggy deck. I may post some pics if it ends up looking decent.

post a pic of it beside a standard slotta base so we can have a look for ourselves. I reckon if you use a dread base (60mm) and stick some cork on it to look like rocks (and conveniently hang over the edge for the wheels to sit on) you should be fine.

Adam at nagoya hammer had a guy built just like what you are talking about... he did not base it...the rules GW put up were you have to put the modes on the bases they come with.... some models do not come with a base... so you do not need ot base them and ork bikes have no base so you do not have to base them... at all...

I you want to the FW models come with a base... if you Google it you can all see that he is twice the size of the normal bikers .

I find that a base helps clearly define whether a model is in B2B or not. If the base is non-standard size, I reckon thats ok, as long as youre not obviously playing silly buggers. Make it as small as you can without being silly about it. (i.e. bike falling over)

Plus a base lets you add some decoration and coolness to the model. I have my marine attack bikes on large dreadnought sized bases. The wheels just fit, but the base is wider than the model. It helps it fit in with the rest of the squad too.
