The future of 40K?

From GW's YouTube channel.....

So it seems the rumours of a new edition of 40K could well be true.
But whether it's more a 40K 6.1 style compilation/streamlining/clarification or a fully fledged new edition remains to be seen. IMHO it'll probably be the former.
What say you savages?

Here is some more stuff.

Good: More and more varied missions.
Bad: Unbound Armies = let's ignore the FOC restrictions.
Undecided: Psychic phase returns.

It depends who you listen to. On one hand there are some rumours saying that everything will change, up is down and the sky is falling. On the other it's just an update to change all the copyright-able terms, bring the FOC up to date with fortifications and super heavy options and to sell more minis.
It's only been 2 years since 6th, I doubt this will be 7th so soon.

Wow, that is some shocking stuff and I guess I spoke to soon. 7th edition it is. FOC is optional? Psychic phase seems to be the WFB Magic phase. Objectives that change from turn to turn.
Well, surely it can't be all bad, can it?
From the 2nd paragraph on the 2nd leaked page of WD.
Now I can take an army composed entirely of Forgefiends, Heldrakes and Defilers
...an army composed entirely of... Heldrakes...
Apparently, yes, yes it can.

Of course an army consisting entirely of Heldrakes will auto-lose at the start of their turn 1
Anyways, it remains to be seen what 'Unbound' actually means and how it relates to the 'new' rules.
Also there is the possibility of doing some very cool, themed 'Unbound' lists: All bikers, A Terminator assault etc
as well as all the possible douchey possibilities.
Then there is the fact that some folks, such as the Goatboys of the world, were coming up with some pretty awful lists even with the FOC.
Finally, when all is said and done, I reserve the right to refuse to play someone who brings an unreasonably 'broken'/Waacy list. That said I've never had to do that in over 20 years of gaming.

I am sure this new "edition" is made to balance things out and not to sell more over-sized expensive models right?

Absolutely!
Honestly, nobody in our local crowd plays with ridiculous lists anyway, so I think we're OK on that front. It does seem that GW is delegating responsibility for your army to the players, which is good if the players are the type of people who prefer a close run game with balanced lists. On the other hand, only having to copy and paste one unit entry makes things even easier for the Goatboys of the world. I think that this is going to put a lot of people off the game, but so long as I'm playing with the people in our group, I can't see myself ditching 40K anytime soon. At the current rate, 8th should be out in time for Christmas, so if 7th sucks it isn't a problem.

Sure lol. I've only had 2 games of the present rulesystem and was just starting to warm to it. I like the hardback tome as a book and don't see much need to buy another one again. I know it wasn't very well proofread but it looks nice with all the fluff. The rules actually take up very little of the tome so at least it's a nice keepsake fluffwise. I really enjoyed my last game of 40k against the sisters of battle so I'm looking forward to playing as much 40k as I can this year before they do change anything.
